This was so bittersweet and made my heart hurt for them both. I think you really nailed that kind of melancholy quiet drinking / not a lot of words thing that guys seem to do with each other, and all of the stuff with Varric's crossbow was also really great without being overwrought. This might be my favorite thing you've ever written! So good.
