I like the story! But I agree with you about the sequel and rewrite. It just needs more silliness. There's a LOT of serious RWBY stories out there, and sometimes that's just what people want. The seiries itself reflects this perfectly! In season 1 there's explosions and... Nora (enough said there), but in season 4 there is some (stolen from you) carp! But we need some more silliness. In the beginning of beacon and until season 4 everyone is a kid. They're supposed to be silly. Hopefully this inspires you to continue this awesome fic's re-write. Go piss off Weiss and PLEASE replace Ozpin's coffee with tea colored black. I will read, review, and favorite immortal if you do this. It must happen. Maybe steal Glynda's whip thing while you're at it and improve it then give it back. I could go all day here, really. If you want some more ideas I'll give you some. If not then too bad. This is too good to be left behind.

Read this while I was waiting for the remake to be updated, hope to see the second book come out one day but I understand if it doesn't.

The Phantom Nevermore kind of reminds me of Kaito Kid from Gosho Aoyama's "Magic Kaito", as well as having a somewhat similar personality to Lupin the 3rd Monkey Punch's "Lupin III".

I'll go ahead and say that I do not enjoy TPN as much as other stories from you. I'll admit that much of it stems from my own preferences: I am not fond of angst, and friendly fire-troll archetypes are annoying (though you get points by not justifying Thaddeus' attitude by demonizing Ozpin).
That said, I enjoy the action, the writing, and most of the characterizations. So my biggest fear after reading the previous chapter was that you would not stay the course and keep the characters natural. I personally appreciate the (step towards a) happy ending, and can only urge you to not fold under reader pressure in the future. You do great work. Accepting criticism is good, but your readership is not your editor either.
