Reviews for The Life and Times of Jackson Overland Frost
mala chapter 65 . 12/21/2018
I want a Vanish and Katherine story with Jack Frost...that would be funny. Poor Jack. Also a nod to who Nick's wife would be.
Guest chapter 64 . 11/15/2018
Ahh this chapter made me happy because if RotG and the books exist in the same universe, this has always been my headcanon (that the Overlands adopted Jack after Nightlight changed). (until whatever the next book renders canon like you said, anyways)

I loved these lines especially: "''Jack, then. For short.'' He smiles back at her. ''It fits, too. I'm like a Jack-in-the-box. All my memories are locked away, and who knows when they'll spring out.''"

Fun fact: gold is one of the only metals known to never tarnish. That is why it's so "precious." People would dig it up and it would be all shiny. 200 years later, it is still shiny, and people, like crows, tend to like shiny things.

yayaya. finally caught back up! Sorry its been so long since I've read your story.

As you suggested in an earlier chapter I've recent read Ollie's Odyssey. A wonderful book by the way. and I noticed in one of your comments that you couldn't find the Jack Frost Cameo. I thought I'd let you know where to find it. Its not Jack himself as much as its just his Staff. You can find Twinetender on the front cover with Ollie, as well as with Ollie again when he walks off with Tinny in Chapter 22 A Pal Can. It isn't an obvious cameo but it more points to Jack. hope that helps

keep up the awesomeness cant wait till the next chapter :)

I'm sorry it took so long for me to read this chapter. Been wrapped up in family matters with little time to go on the internet. I love the chapter. It was fun watching Nightlight and Twiner meet for the first time. It makes me wonder, though, if Twiner knew Jack was Nightlight?

Personally, I like whatever you write about. But the Awgwas would be nice... Those are the creatures that prefer children to be miserable I believe. Something tells me that Jack (or Nightlight) would love to be a bit naughty by tormenting those creatures!

Jack and twiner

Pitch chapter, hands down. Also, I don't think Flee was Jack's sister's real name. I'd like to think it was Emma.
pervywolfgirl chapter 62 . 5/8/2017
It is so very good
I've been looking for a story so similar to the books for a while now.
Serami Nefera chapter 62 . 12/8/2016
I loved that movie as a child (and still love it). Thinking of all the spirits that gathered and agreed to make Santa Claus immortal. I keep thinking that, in the book, a Jack Frost helped Santa Claus... Right? Maybe I'm mixing up stories. I've always been a fan of mythology and Christmas stories.

Epic! More please!
Guest chapter 61 . 10/4/2016
If you're still welcoming to possible suggestions (?) I just have a note I wanted to drop in here... There was a last scene in the movie (you may or may not have already taken note of) where when Pitch gets chased by the nightmares back into his lair, the hole sort of closes up behind them. And so I speculated that could've been a) Mother Nature "sealing" Pitch and the Nightmares underground, albeit lasting temporarily given this chapter, or b) weird physics. Obviously not pressuring you to use it or anything - just consider it or I don't know - as this is just a random, very short detail I noticed when recently rewatching the movie.

Onto my actual review about this chapter:
Ahh. Such a beautiful and unique take on Pitch's lair. I enjoyed the conversations between Jack and Twinetender. And Pitch! At the end. I was totally not expecting him, let alone his decision to save Jack from the maelstrom of nightmares. The last two lines hit me like a brick to the emotions..
Nevertheless, you never seem to.. like, /ever/ get anyone out of character? Even with your headcanons or "semi"-canons, I'm continually amazed and pleased at how you still manage to keep things close to RotG and GoC canons, together.
And all of this is just... ahh. hghh.
I just finished binge-reading this in all of three hours or so - so, really, pardon my babbling.
Guest chapter 58 . 10/4/2016
Pitch is left-handed? That is quite neat to know... Learning that though, I did a quick Google Image search and found that he uses his right hand quite predominantly in the movie. So maybe Pitch is ambidextrous? Hmm...

Overall, thanks to this story and your references to updates on William Joyce's social media accounts, I've been discovering a lot of interesting things actually - like Flee and twinetender. (been mentally hollering about how Jack's sister's nickname is Flee since the past hour I belatedly found the tweet) Gosh are there so many interesting details that I wish I had known sooner. This last paragraph is just me kind of rambling.

Anyway. This collection. Thoroughly great stuff. I enjoy reading each drabble.

Oh gosh. This chapter was especially hilarious. xD
Searchingforangels chapter 61 . 10/3/2016
That was . . . wow, that was absolutely amazing. The blend of book verse and movie verse was seamless, and Nightlight and Kozmotis were very present without dominating the piece. I love how the ship is buried in Pitch's lair, and I love all the details in the room (and was that Nightlight's old staff you described, or something else?), especially that old suit. It was amazing. The way you blend in little fragments of Nightlight into Jack's memories never fails to impress me, and this chapter was absolutely full of it. And Pitch being - well, Pitch. That was wonderful to see, too. "It was a look that was so very Old" conveys more than I can really express here. Just. Keep doing this. Please.

Sorry I haven't been reviewing for a while. Life has been hectic, but I love every single chapter you post.
Serami Nefera chapter 61 . 10/3/2016
superb! I think your intuition in how you write is spot on. Pitch is cold, calculating, malicious, and cunning. But he was also once a noble heroic general and a loving father. I love how you show us all these traits and don't need to resort to dialogue in order to get that point across. It's very poignant and can be sensed in the story. You always leave me wishing there was more whenever I finish reading your chapters. Can't tell you how often I reread your story. I don't often reread fanfictions. But your story is so good that I often find myself rereading them.
