Reviews for Always You Three
alix33 chapter 57 . 6/1
Did you mean "whose freckled face"?
alix33 chapter 56 . 6/1
I want to get hold of the blutnest non-magical pair of sheep shears in the whole of the universe and cut off Druelle Rsoier's breasts with them slowly and painfully and then shove both of her breasts down her windpipe so she'd suffocate on them and then without disinfecting those shears at all, slowly and painfully cut off Filch's bollocks and prick for what he did to Ro.
alix33 chapter 55 . 6/1
Ro would have said "losing any fingers".
I am so congenitally clumsy ever since I originally learned to awalk at the age of 18 months and again at the age of 9 after surgery when I was 8 and a half to lengthen my congenitally too short Achiless tendons that I woul have fallen over more than double the number of tiems that the clumsiest witch learning to apparate in this chapter did.
alix33 chapter 54 . 6/1
That Daisyroot Draught loooked vey innocent with the flowers in but sounded as strong/potent as muggle cocktails that taste very sweet apparently are. I would not know. I drink a mouthful of very sweet sherry about once a semester.
Human chapter 24 . 5/11
I LOVE THIS FANFIC.
I like the friendships, the characters, the little details from the books, how it lines up with canon...EVERYTHING.

On the first second-year chapter, Poppy's owl is referred to as Piper instead of Nightingale, but that's the ONLY inconsistency I've seen in 57 chapters, which is amazing.

Great job, and please keep writing!
Alinyaalethia chapter 57 . 4/26
Just to be novel I had the wherewithal to check my alerts, and sure enough, there you are up the queue :) And you didn’t stint on details . But then, you never do. So much gets crammed in here, and I’m pleased. Besides, it’s nice that the first on-record reaction to Ro/Poppy is ‘congratulations’ and not ‘be careful’.

I half wondered, you know, if Millicent wasn’t like-minded when it came to Ro and Poppy, Hence the notching and sympathy. I suppose anything’s still possible, but I’ve got to say, I loved the story about her mum, so I’m glad you followed that narrative instinct. I’m intrigued marriage was an option, but really pleased too - there have always been was the wizarding community is lightyears ahead of us, and if this is one, I’m well pleased. (You’ll forgive me if I don’t quite remember Millicent’s blood status. I want to say someone in there is a Muggle, but it’s been so long since I met her that I’ve forgotten - much the way things like that just never matter with friends, I suppose.)

I love Poppy’s healers’ club. Much as I adore the new relationship under exploration, it’s a nice reminder that Poppy has her own distinct interests, just as Ro has quidditch. So I hope we see more of them - if nothing else it’s interesting stuff!

I too have missed Ro, though, so it’s nice to be back in her POV, especially for Quidditch. The match doesn’t disappoint. You feel how she’s grown as she and Diggory call a halt and laugh off their collision. Your younger characters are really coming into their own, too. As Ro rattles off who does what and what they mean to the team they fit right in, and while we’re apt to miss Nancy and Anthea, it’s hard to help liking Verity and Xander too.

Minerva reacts much as we’d hope. Larry having ever been lovely, I’m hoping he’s stepped back to give the friends time together and nothing else. But I’m also acutely aware you work to canon and that there’s a bit of of a time-stamp on his relationship to Minerva. And if this is how it runs out - well, I’ll be sorry, but I’d get it too, you know? Narrative needs must, sometimes.
HogwartsDreamer113 chapter 57 . 4/20
Aw, last quidditch match with those three boys. :( But I'm glad they'll be back, especially Larry. Of course Millicent and Minerva are supportive of Ro and Poppy! They're good friends! Hopefully the twins will be supportive too, and I'm sure they will. It would be sad if something divided these 6 yet again.
Looking forward to the next update to read while in quarantine!
HogwartsDreamer113 chapter 56 . 4/20
Awwwww yay! This was so cute! I didn't have any idea in the earlier years that I'd be shipping Ro and Poppy, but here we are! They are so sweet together and compliment each other well! I can't wait to see where their relationship goes! I love the LGBT representation, even in the 1940s!
Side note beyond the cute ship, Lyrena is a fun new character!
HogwartsDreamer113 chapter 54 . 4/20
Okay, so first off I'd like to say I'm loving the frequent updates of this story very much. I'm just so behind on reviews due to a busy semester that just finished, but I've read each one as they come. :) Your chapter notes are really helpful for me to sort out what happened which chapter lol XD
I'm glad Septima was realized what their father did to Irma. Obviously things won't be perfect for them, but at least the girls are all back together again. I thought this chapter that Septima got pregnant and that's why she was throwing up rather than the alcohol she had, but I think enough months have passed these four chapters that that theory has been disproved lol
And ah, I want to go back and reread all the hints that you've been dropping about Ro and Poppy but that's a lot of words and I have so much to read so maybe not yet at this point lol.
Alinyaalethia chapter 56 . 4/19
Well, I’ve never seen the BSL theory but I love it and am adopting it. And now I’m wondering how/if other Muggle disability support systems could interact with the wizarding world. This is a fascinating tangent, so thank you.

There’s lots else to pull out; the Hogsmede scene is lovely, and it’s always nice to see your ‘in the wings’ characters as it were, take charge. But a lot of it gets overshadowed by that truly gorgeous scene at the end.

It reads beautifully. Every moment lands exactly as it should. You feel Ro’s mounting anxiety first at blurting out that bit about Keziah and then just how much she needs to make Poppy understand her importance. There’s this fantastic outpouring of vulnerability that would more usually be Poppy’s lot, and I sort of love the roll reversal as Poppy mcgyver’s an escape but then takes on Ro’s confidence in the aftermath of the confession. There’s fomenting really lovely watching that realisation build Poppy up, and lovely too Ro’s rambling verbal outpouring. You can see she’s alternately planned this and worked on the wording but also just really unplanned it and has dived in risks be damned. I’ve been waiting and waiting for you to get here and it was so worth it for the payoff. First rate writing, and bonus marks for hinting that while the wizarding world might be more relaxed in attitude, it’s still not perfect. Just exhilarating reading.
Alinyaalethia chapter 55 . 4/19
Okay, so tea and charging the tablet slowed down my reading but I’m back. This really is good fun. The splinching feels appropriately menacing (agree completely HBP is weirdly lackadaisical about losing pieces of yourself, but then this is the school where catastrophe is annual, so maybe it tracks?), but even the classes are good fun. Minerva coming to dread her hoop is nicely human, and I appreciate the twins’ balletic training helping them out. Also, tell me someone in the ministry isn’t utterly moronic. There must be someone, but Tweedle is not that person. Thank God for Merrythought!

You always do write a good birthday, and this is no different. Everything right down to the ring feels carefully chosen. And while Druella is awful, the great cat heist is the kind of lark you’re supposed to have at a magical school. As opposed to, say, a near deadly tournament. (Not that that’s on you. Wizards are oddly blasé about their lives. It’s an in world thing.) And that ending is just delightful. A much needed laugh in these interesting times.
Alinyaalethia chapter 54 . 4/19
Gracious, I’m behind! And I’ve come back to a Poppy chapter. She really is the heart of this sestet, isn’t she?

I don’t read this as an easy fix between sisters at all. It feels much more like a tentative olive branch as they relearn how to be around each other. Septima could easily have blamed Irma for what she saw in the pevebsie -she wouldn’t be the first woman to do it. I’m glad she doesn’t though. It’s the harder choice, but the healing one. And I have all kinds of time for Merrythought and her investment in consent. It’s one of those world-building choices of yours that enhances this world by an unexpected amount.

Slughirn’s party is all kinds of fun. Something about Ro borrowing that waistcoat from Larry more than ever points towards his integration into the group. It’s very Larry to insist on a normal photo, and still more like Ro to indulge in silly snaps. I love how you give us a glimpse of everyone’s character first through clothing and then the pictures.

Merrythought continues lovely and impish as she hands over that spare drink, and I’m glad you kept Crickerly around for an encore. I enjoy too moving through the party with Poppy. That glimpse of Ro is particularly effective, as you have a wonderful gift for romanticising friendship in a way that C S Lewis would commend, but it also means you’re always a hair’s breadth from outright romance. And while you’ll never hear me complain on that score, crystallising Poppy’s feeling’s for everyone but poor Poppy is narratively useful.

The conversation with Millicent is particularly sweet. You do feel for her being set adrift while she took Seotima’s side in a grudge, only for Septima to parade around on Phillip’s arm. She’s right though, Poppy might do well to take her own advice.

After the party is equally sweet. I’ve said before, you do a lot to really make these characters feel their age, and all that sneaking around and clandestine cuddling helps considerably. Minerva really out to misadventure by cat - her stealth goes up in leaps and bounds! Mind, I quite like the others getting a chance to rib her a little. Other nice things here include Ro’s ‘knight in shining polkadots’ observation. Just lovely.

Keep well, and happy writing. I will be onto the next chapter directly.

Oh. My. GOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD! I've been shipping this for SO. LONG. and an SOOOOOO HAPPY! Please can they stay together because I don't believe there's any canonical evidence against a permanent relationship or anything, plus I'm not sure I could bear it (I would say "I'm not sure many of us could bear it' but it's rude to speak for others, regardless of how right I am) but seriously I've been shipping this since they met (send help) and I'm just so happy (yeah I've been trying to figure out a proper review for a couple days, in which I've reread this chapter multiple times and am just completely fangirling over my favorite ship in my favorite fic. Yes, I said it, this is my favorite fic. I discovered this not too long ago so this review is kinda the results of the entire story or at least the angst. Also do any of these ships have names? (Minerva& Larry and Poppy&Ro)
Guest chapter 51 . 4/14
Thanks for writing this. I can never put into words what this story means to me, but in the word of Alex or Connor Bailey -if i’m feeling emotional you must have done something right-
