This is the first I've seen this story. I so agree with you! Mrs. Hughes was out of character! Very much so. I like your version much better! It's more true to all of them.

This was great! Although I loved the conversations with Mrs. Patmore, this is very realistic.

Yes, your story makes so much more sense. Mrs. Hughes is not one to let others take on her responsibilities.

Very nice! I, too, winced a few times. I like the way you've rectified the conversations. I can't picture Mrs Hughes having that conversation with Mrs Patmore, not to that extent, and I really can't picture Mr Carson admitting his feelings like that to Mrs Patmore.

Oh my goodness, I loved Mrs. Patmore's scenes of course, but this was so beautifully written I would've liked to see it on the screen. Both characters were wonderfully in character and I think this piece really gives an interesting look at Mrs. Hughes, which I enjoyed. Nicely done!

Gorgeous. And she didn't say the thing about "warts and all" and that was lovely, lol. Augh how I want to see the canon conversation between Mrs Patmore and Mrs Hughes where she relays the message. But THIS. This was utterly delicious. Well done .

Whilst I don't agree that their behaviour was OOC, because we've never seen either of them in love, I do like the way you've presented the essence of the episode in another way.

Nice fic. I agree it was uncharacteristic of Mrs Hughes to be so very nervous, but I think they're all allowed a moment of insanity. :) I like the reflections you added.
