Reviews for Betrayal
Guest chapter 1 . 9/24/2018
D’Artagnan was not a commoner even in the show (I don’t speak of the original novel, where he was doubtless a gentleman). He was rather a descendant of some countryside gentry – without title and not rich, but a gentleman nevertheless. Gascons were famous of their being poor, but proud. D’Artagnan said himself on several occasions in the show, that he is a gentleman and has been raised as such. All this farmer issue has rather something to do with limited size of lands possessed by the family. This little French article before the family name is an indication of him not being a paysan or a commoner, because it would be just Artagnan, if he would be a commoner. The family obviously had tenants and servants, otherwise D’Artagnan would never be able to live in Paris of its income for several month after his father death and before the destruction of his property by LaBarge. So you can hardly imagine that he or his father was such a hard working farmworker.

This was an awesome story! Action-packed, fast-paced, funny and at times heartbreaking. And very well written, too. I especially loved the first half with all that tension between Athos and d'artangnan.
Helensg chapter 42 . 4/6/2016
Couldn't have been a more fitting ending.
I've had this story saved for months but have only just got round to reading it all.
Loved the massive amounts of whumpage especially Athos and at times the camaraderie and brotherly love almost made me sob.
Will have to find out your other stories now (hope you're always this mean to my beloved Athos) and thanks for this mega tale.
pain in the mikta chapter 42 . 11/10/2015
Well, I suppose t'would be the humane thing to be at leat a bit sorry for Vincent...

I got nothing... ;-)

Quite a fitting ending for the guy and, jee, Louis seemed to have a moment of sanity there !

T'was quite a ride and I'm looking forward to more stories : thanks for sharing !
pain in the mikta chapter 39 . 11/10/2015
Well, Porthos was doing a great job : can't say I'm mad at Tréville for intervening, though... I'm happy to see that it'll bring up the other part(s) of our fav villain'd demise eventually... (evil grin)
Great angst, btw, as usual!
nurse13 chapter 42 . 11/8/2015
Whaaaaat? That's all?
You just can't end here... It simply feels not right.
To prevent a missunderstanding: I absolutely agree with Vincent's demise, he surely deserved an end like this. Just like the bible says: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth... someone, who finds joy in torturing other humans, even his comrades, deserves dying in agony. And I appreciate Louis' mature decision and behaviour this time. If he only would do so everytime... ;)
But what, at least in my eyes, went short, was Athos' and d'Artagnan's reconciliation. Well, though it's understandable that d'Artagnan feels the urge to tell Athos he's forgiven, and the moment indeed was very cute, I felt slightly disappointed. Because the whole story pivoted on the tension between the two, this end was just... too little. But that's my opinion... ;)
And for I'm a nurse I also would have preferred a little more about their mutual treatment... *gg* But that now my mind has to do for me. Hmm... the pictures anyhow will be fun. *goes day-dreaming*
However, I thank you very much for 42 pleasant days, or better mornings, on which you accomplished to entertain me really great! Your figures were pointedly written, and with much love, and stayed mostly in character. Even your villain has been convincing, someone to hate right from his first appearance, and hereby providing excitement to the story. A good, entertaining story always needs a great villain.
I enjoyed every morning, reading your newest chap and I loved all those nasty cliffys, which made my mind run. So thank you again for all the work you put into this and I hope to soon read something new from you again.

SunnyFreckles chapter 42 . 11/4/2015
So excited to reach this chapter and now so disappointed that your story is over. Though I am far from disappointed with the final - so well written and the perfect ending. I'll miss the Inseparables!
Thank you for sharing the story with us and looking forward to the next one.
Lilac Lavender chapter 42 . 11/4/2015
I enjoyed the fact that Louis knows our boys are known as the Inseparables and Treville explaining their bond to their Majesties. Aramis and Porthos have been so great together in their care for their brothers this entire story. I'm happy they were able to set Laurent straight concerning his feelings of guilt. It's cute he's so eager to please and has been helping out Aramis so much. I loved that Aramis telling him he'd be in trouble with Felix made the kid pale and rush out of the room. As I've said I like that there's another mentor/protege relationship in the Garrison with those two.
Athos and d'Art snuggled up in bed *squee* Just when I thought you couldn't write d'Art any cuter you save the best for last. Him falling asleep and his words being spaced out like that was the most adorable thing ever. Athos finally accepting his forgiveness with a chuckle and kiss was perfect.
As for Vincent, the punishment certainly fit the crime. I appreciate you reading up on torture methods from back then to make it accurate. Those were gruesome times. Wow thank you for using my suggestions so completely! The execution attended by all the Musketeers and the public, Louis stripping Vincent of his commission and condemning him, it was all here. D'Art throwing up is indicative of how this entire ordeal made him lose his innocence *sigh* Painful but his brothers will always see him, and each other through. You're so close to 400 reviews! I hope it reaches that milestone. What an achievement this story was. Congratulations!
Issai chapter 42 . 11/4/2015
The king acted wise - wow! :) I liked the fact that he did surprise othrr by that!
I loved the half-unconsxious talk between Athos and d' Artagnan. And the boy's stubborness - I want to forgive you so I will! :)
I am not the fan of tortures evdn in the name of justice so I understand d'Artagnan reactions well.

I loved that story! Thank you for sharing!
CaroH chapter 42 . 11/4/2015
I am sorry this has finished. I always look forward to getting home from work to read a new chapter. Vincent's end was brutal but well deserved. I hope we see another story from you soon.

The answer to life, the universe, and everything - 42! :)
Go Louis! I'm so proud of him, being mature. Honestly it doesn't feel that out of character for him, he was quite somber and serious at the very end of season two; then again somber and mature aren't always the same thing so . . .
Loved the character moment for Aramis; it was very true to who he is.
And D'Artagnan's reaction was true to him as well.
The ending is perfect, as is the apology between Athos and D'Artagnan

I loved this story, and i look forward to whatever story you write next :D
Tidia chapter 42 . 11/3/2015
What a journey and you go to the end. Nice to see Laurent involved too along wit Athos getting his forgiveness and Vincent getting his ending although grisly
