Reviews for The Night of The Psycho Shadow
n9voc chapter 1 . 9/7/2008
I've just finished this one, and my jaw is sore from being clenched in fury at the villans, and my eyes are smarting from the tears as I was pulled deep into this story.

The Shadow and Doc Savage are my #1 and #2 heros. I too have walked on both sides of that line between light and dark in my life. We learn to use our own inner darkness to fight the greater darkness about us - the way of the warrior.

I was pulled totally into this story. Excellent storytelling, gripping plot. Truly shows how our own darkness drives us to be the sheepdogs protecting our families and those who do not have the ability to protect themselves. We have all the tools of the predatory wolf, but use them to protect the sheep.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

'nuff said.

Masterfully done, the relationships are well developed, the story and plot are great, and Victor and Stephen Cranston as the Shadows stole the show. Peter Parker was good too. There were a few minor plot holes, but none so bad that I couldn't overlook them.

Bravissimo!

a real page-turner, Stephensmat, I'd highly recommend it. There isn't much Shadow stuff out there, which is a pity. Good to see you filling the void.

Thanks for not telling me there was another The Shadow/Spidey crossover story! Sheesh, you're lucky I'm such an avid fan that I keep checking back periodically. *shakes head and throws her hands up in the air* Authors! *sigh*

*g*

Okay, it was worth it, I admit. Well-written, and very engaging. Plenty of action, but it wasn't the fights I liked most about this one. It was the chasm between our heroes. Very angsty, very dramatic-I kept wanting to scroll downward just to make sure everything would get better, though I had the self-restraint to hold myself back and read it one sentence at a time. Still, it was a very powerful story-heavy on the emotional turmoil. And kinda frightening too, in a way. What with the level of darkness The Shadow is really capable of sinking into, though of course that's a major aspect of his established character. Still, knowing it and seeing it are two different things. Oh yeah!

Also, while I can understand Moe's point about never questioning The Shadows orders whether they make sense or not, I feel inclined to defend Spidey's actions. There's been a general trend throughout the past few stories in which, though Stephen calls Peter his "partner", he continues to treat him as a subordinate. Partners are by definition equals; they may have different strengths and weaknesses, but neither is truly 'better' than the other. So maybe the The Shadow's first rule ought to have an addendum, because I think it is not only Peter's right to question The Shawdow, but his duty as his partner. Accountability is tricky issue, because *nobody* is above it-not even The Shadow.

Just my thoughts,

Moonbeam.
