Wow - excellent chapter! Loved the re-interpretation of the remembrall scene. Enjoyed Snape and Flint in that one. Also loved the re-interpretation of the troll scene. Quite imaginative that. I like how Harry only used the spells and information he had been recently taught. That was very well done!

I thought the chapter was quite good. Lots of angst and lots of details. I especially liked that bit about Hedwig flying through the window of the Slytherin common room. Great job!

It's off to an interesting start. I think the length is quite fine. Longer is always better as far as I'm concerned, but there is no real reason for a chapter to be over 5000 words (of course, says the guy who wrote an 18000 word chapter). I think you've got an adequate level of detail in the story and I like what you've done with the characters so far. I like the direction you've taken - it's different. I also prefer deviation from canon - after all, why would I want to read the same thing over and over again.

What is the point of worshipping the ground which he has already walked upon

Your writing style is quite decent, yet the story has no hook to it. It is the same story we've read over 9000 times before. You even copypasted the stupid hat song for whatever stupid reason. Probably just to increase the word count at no cost other than the reader's enjoyment.
