Not quite sure I follow what's happened here. Why would he have the Staff if he wasn't a resident of Hotel Thanos?

I have no idea what to make of this and it's very strange, but also quite an interesting AU! It does beg quite a lot of questions, but given that it's a one-shot I assume we're meant to answer them ourselves. ;) Short but fun!

A Loki that was positively affected by the fall from the rainbow bridge...well, that would be interesting in a way, but I can see why this isn't longer since he seems quite reasonable, and likely not at all upset to be the new owner of an infinity gem. I imagine he'd follow this up with either leaving, not like S.H.I.E.L.D. could stop him since he knows just what he has, or making an offhand comment about just what they had and either offering a bit of advice or even offering to help. I doubt he'd take the thing since this version should have no real interest in the Tessaract, and one way or another without that action the Avengers movie just wouldn't be the same...though if he stayed on Midgard Thor would probably still show up and try to take him back to Asgard and that could be an interesting scene.

It would be awesome having Loki replace Thor on the Avengers if you decided to continue this, hence the follow for a completed story,.

Oh what a lovely little scene... which gives Loki the option of becoming a SHIELD consultant on matters of high-level physics/magic.
