This is a very real thing 3 of my siblings we adopted From china and my mom and dad and us kids had to deal with all theses kinds of comment people are so ignorant about how to talk to an adoptive family we got questions like

"How much did you pay for them?"

"Oh you're such saints for taking in a child that's not yours"

"What's their real name?"

It's so dumb it doesn't matter if you're family is by blood or adoption they are no more or no less my siblings the my brother and sister that are my biological siblings we are their "REAL" family

Sorry I just really was glad to see a fiction that protrays something my family has dealt with for years I salute you

I have three or four friends who are adopted, and it never even crossed my mind that people might make these sorts of comments. You'll notice that I'm not even sure whether it's three or four, because sometimes I forget they were adopted. The only reason we usually talk about it is because one of them was actually almost 10 before she was adopted, so she remembers her family before and has told me about them. Dang, I want 'Uncle Clint' and 'Aunt Tasha' to go pick some fights now. :( I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
