I truly enjoyed the story.

While I see that the transition from breaking up with Josh to Rick finding out about the cat could have had an additional sentence or two to setup the Rick coming to visit situation that did not bother me much. I loved the look of betrayal and the tiny cat glare. Ollie and Kate are just about two peas in a pod.

Kate should not have been surprised by Rick's reaction to Ollie versus Josh's reaction. Rick is almost always about everyone else and open to new things where Josh was always about himself. Josh is correct he really did not know Kate very well. She is a closed off person but then he never really tried to find out everything about her, he was happy with a nice dinner and a roll in the sack. Rick, while not averse to a roll in the sack, was willing to put in the work to find out everything he could about Kate as that was his approach to the relationship. After the first couple of months Rick wanted to be friends with Kate first then migrate into a more serious relationship. Josh never seemed to be that willing to work at the relationship or give anything up to try to make it work. I mean can you vision Josh hanging around for 4 years with not even a romantic kiss to show for it?

I can't give you advice about writing, but I will tell you that I loved this story! It was an enjoyable read, and I'd love to read more from you. You did a great job with Kate and Rick and I felt this story was 100% believable.
