Yes, Snape could use a happy ending, all right. Sadly, only Harry will get one (and Dumbledore, too-after all, he'll be universally beloved and Snape universally hated. What fun).

And Dumbledore seemed perfectly comfortable with Harry being abused in canon. How else could Albus rescue him and assure himself of the boy's gratitude?
