Reviews for End
cheeseandhamburger chapter 2 . 4/27/2016
Poor Misa Misa! Goes through all this crap in canon and the fandom only ever sees her as an idiot that gets in the way of Light/L. Not that I don't like Light/L, but come on people!

Even though you killed her off, I'm still happy you gave her a better treatment. And Light was actually less OOC than in canon. Now what does it say about the anime and manga?

Thank you again! Now I'll go cry in the corner...

I'd like to thank you for writing this. If I was going to nitpick, I'd say that maybe it went too far into the other extreme and Light gave up too easily, but it was still better than the canon ending. I just love how he went out as one proud Kira. I like your writing too!

YES LAST CHAPTER PLZ THANK YOU
Lord Jace chapter 2 . 2/1/2016
I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for this. Mainly because the ending in the show was terrible. Truthfully I knew it could only end with his being found out and ending up dead, but how they handled it in that last episode(and much of the second half of the series) was one of the worst endings I've seen an otherwise great show suffer from.

This on the other hand, I would have loved to have seen in the show, so thanks!

Still sad, very much so, but great at the same time. I think Light might have given up a little too early, but it's not like he had a lot of options.
I like how he actually kept his composure, seeing how him utterly cracking like he did in anime doesn't seem in character, or even believable. I mean, I know he was in a horrible situation, but losing all sense and reason just doesn't fit the guy we've been watching throughout the whole show.
I also like how he felt bad about his loved ones, but didn't regret being Kira. That would simply be too OOC to buy.

Sorry, sorry!
I just had another story opened and mistakenly reviewed this one for the second time.

I just hate it when Light acts more like himself in a fanfic than in an actual canon ending. *Sigh*

Still, thank you for that beautiful story, even if it's so sad.

Again, while I feel that Misa is a misguided character on a whole, clearly it's because of the trauma she's been through. In the series she simply hid it with her bravado. I think that bravado is what annoys people more than anything, but that bravado is needed for her to even survive. Light basically kept her already broken spirit from completely tumbling over. However, his lack of care for her ended up harming her more because clearly she knew deep down that Light didn't love her through pretty much all of the series. I never really thought about it before reading this story, but I think Misa saw that Light needed someone to be there for him and share in the ups and downs of being Kira. Plus, she needed someone to cling too as well. With everything she had been through, why not Kira?

So for him to die so suddenly...it makes sense that she would feel like she couldn't live on. What someone should have told her is that Light would have wanted her to live. Maybe then she wouldn't have rushed to her death. I know I'm going on a tangent, but this story really did make me consider the possibility of Misa's character being deeper than one would originally think. Thanks for that.

Now that my rant is out of the way. Once again, great work. I would definitely love to see the last chapter. :D Keep writing. You're really good.

I definitely like this sort of ending better than what we get in the anime. Instead of Light being a brat in his last moments, he finally just accepts that he was just flat out wrong and that he hurt the people he should have protected and loved. This would have been a great moment for his character had it been in the series. For him to have a semblance of regret at any point in time would have made Light less of a monster. Plus, while Misa can be annoying and could be idiotic at times, her devotion to Light is admirable. Sure that devotion probably should have been geared to someone who actually cared about her from the start, but Misa has a damaged psyche, so it's understandable that she would end up with someone like Light. I think you used her influence on Light well in this ending. This definitely would have been the final bit of character development Light needed to really deliver the bitter nature of the series, so great work on that. I definitely enjoyed this chapter.

This is how Death Note should have ended. The actual ending was really f***ed up.

Interesting way to change the ending without changing it completely. Light's behavior is more similar to the way he acted when he thought he was facing death in season one. I always thought the difference came from how close he was to winning. In first season he was aware of the danger and knew there was a possibility he will be captured and killed. In second season on the other hand he went very long time without any real threat, or worthy opposition. His plans were going smoothly, he was certain of victory... and then the tables were turned because of one little mistake. Hence his complete breakdown, at least that's my theory.

Light appreciating Misa before he dies is something I haven't seen done in a fic before, maybe because she gets bashed so often. Nice to see a story where she isn't. Even though I think it was taken way too far to stay IC, it's certainly a nice change from all the constant Misa hate.

Also, I think you exaggerated the incident with a glass. I'd call it rude, but not physically abusive.

Overall it was well written, touching, did the characters justice, and I would enjoy reading it, if it wasn't for the fact that I hate being reminded about Death Note's ending. But that's hardly your fault.

Anyway thanks for the story, and I hope you'll write more for Death Note!
