That was the most awkward summer ever, wasn't it? I understand what Harry was likely feeling, being on the edge. They wanted to give him room to mourn and get used to his new surroundings, but it just came off as being that extra screw in the DIY kit that has nowhere to go. It was pure luck on Severus' part that he decided to check in on Harry that night. He could have just as easily shut off the lights and gone to bed none the wiser. Even if Harry's 'party' was sorely lacking in the family's eyes, it was still bigger than he'd ever gotten before. Next year... it'll be a party bigger than Harry will be able to comprehend being for him; even if it's just Ron and Hermione over. I just hope that they can get to a point where Harry can openly talk about how he grew up to Snape. It'll hurt (both of them), but it will help. Keep up the good work, dark

This is an interesting idea. How would Snape be different if he had a wife and other children when he had to take Harry in? Again, no dramatic reveals of Harry's life before, but enough that he begins to put the pieces together. The only thing I think is too soon in this is Harry asking to call him "Dad". He's now 13 and Severus has been distant to him. He is just now getting any kind of positive emotional reaction from Severus and I think he would need a few more months before he would want this. I could see him asking if he could call him "Father" and reserving "Dad" for his adoptive father, James, until there was more emotional attachment.

Yes, wanting to learn potions would be a good way to the dungeon bat's heart! This was subtle and not over the top in Harry's or Severus' reactions. Very nice.

I really like this story line:) if you don't continue it, can we see snip it's from later years in the same setting? Like him dealing with Black on the loose, going into the tri-wizard tournament, dealing with Umbridge, (Harry Protecting his younger siblings from the toad sounds adorable.:D) and of corse finding out about and hunting Horcruxs :)
Just some ideas- would love to see more soon:D
