Lovely! You do an amazing job capturing Roy's voice, and I find myself giving him more thought as a character than I ever had before. I think what's most impressive is how much vivid detail you fit into such a (relatively) short piece. One thing in particular that struck me was Roy's connecting the poverty of Rainwall's least fortunate citizens to Lord Barows' decadence & indifference to the poor, and his wondering if Lady Barows would have done more to level the playing field in the city if she were able.

Roy's mother taking out her resentment for her own low station on her son was heartbreaking, yet very believable in fueling his later resentment of the nobility in general and the Prince in particular. And there's so much beautiful imagery here! All of which really fits in with Roy's interest with theater/drama and his attention to detail.
