Typically I refrain from reviewing, especially on one-shots or short stories. This one, however, was very clean and refreshing to read. I haven't very much to say except that it was very clearly written, the characters were most believable, and it was both interesting and enjoyable despite the brevity that typically turns me away from certain fan-fictions.

I will admit, however, that, do to my own carelessness and inclination to "speed-read", as my mother calls it, I missed the little word 'elderly' and pictured the entire story as the younger Spock sneaking away. Luckily, the comment on Selik's age forced me to catch my mistake, and that one word brought the whole imagery together. The second read made much more sense than the first.
