I reread this every time I come across it.

Woah...woah! OMG, this was so...OMG. I love it! I didn't misunderstand, right? The red thread was connected with Hinata, right? This was so touching- unexpectedly. Naruto is in love with Kakashi but his “fate/future” is with Hinata? What I didn't like was that he was able to break it. You can’t break/cut such things! I would love it even more if he was unable to cut it and spent the rest (day, hours, whatever) with Kakashi, but with regret as he knew that at some point he would be destined to leave him- even if he loved him. And that would slowly kill him inside.

Wonderful, touching story. I loved that you had Naruto trudge all over town to figure it out, that he didn't go with hope and expectation, but with resignation and resentment. Your description of the town was very evocative, and I enjoyed the odd way that things came across like the steely fountain water. At the end, I was glad that Kakashi was the one that Naruto came home to, and that he didn't tell him anything about the red string that had led him to a past love. You made that choice make sense, and be very emotional. Thanks for writing this story.
