thepkrmgc chapter 72 . 3/22
it should be interesting to see how the qunari have organized their forces, and how our hero pulls a loddbrok
Sigma-del-Prisium chapter 72 . 3/22
Now what's the play by the Qunari now that they've set up a barrage weapon and the first wave thwarted by the Trojan cavalry.

If things go this way about the state of the "Royal Family" of the Republic, the government would be of elective monarchy with a democratically elected legislature at its basic form, with ruling council. 4 Heirs to the throne, and each heir may or may not found their own Houses. May need aspect of meritocracy to at least make sure that the competency is present.

The elective monarchy I can see from how it works in Malaysia, UAE, Roman Republic and the Polish Lithuania Commonwealth. This should maintain either a unitary or federal state of Troy. Then put a dash of French Empire because of Sam's de facto and recently de jure rule as imperator of rhe republic.
Thehappyvampire chapter 72 . 3/21
Fact is, the vast majority of cultures is Thedas have not developed comfortably alongside ideas like democracy, republicanism, and federalism. Nations like Canada and the United States gradually developed under an environment that encourages a democratic system because they were separated from the British Crown. It generations for Canada and the US to become to impressive and stable federations they are today.
Guest chapter 71 . 2/13
He should simply take the position as head of state and find a way to limit his powers, Democracy while beautiful to them is too foreign for the to operate well
Solicitor chapter 65 . 2/12
As a Solicitor I applaud your attempt to create a more legal and official atmosphere, most authors attempt to parody courtroom drama as much as possible, with frankly laughable results.

However, I find the judgement of not guilty of murder absurd by any non-politically motivated legal judgement. The case was very obviously murder by any definition except the seemingly ironically primitive and highly flawed logic of the Trojan’s.

The precedence set here now makes the Trojan generals and officials technically responsible for every atrocity committed by those under Trojan authority they didn’t specifically order not to be done.

As you can see, this ensures that, unless everyone is punished immediately and no one gets away with any cruelties and they keep perfect control of all their employees at any time, eventually they themselves could be murdered by someone they’ve never met and mean no harm too in ‘self defense’. This includes if a bystander was injured during a riot, and decided to take out the government due to a belief they tried to kill him and others.

Just one example of the can of worms this opens.

The assertion of such a direct line of responsibility for crimes so early, ignoring principles such as degree of separation, is, frankly, horrific to contemplate when looking at the long term.

Any act of violence authorised by the state, or not directly ordered to stop immediately, can now lead to the government being treated as individuals in a self defence case. This is not even a stretch to attempt.

Despite declaring Anders a terrorist, you opened a massive can of worms that will allow terrorists a measure of legal legitimacy inside your own state and leaves open the idea the government can be legally murdered.
Guest chapter 42 . 2/10
Jesus fucking Christ Sam is a flip flopping hypocrite.

I suppose he can’t understand that the people of Fereldan and the atrocities they suffered in that exact region at the hands of Orlesians in living memory can’t just be forgotten at the drop of a hat because it’s convenient to him.

Criticising other people’s nationalism? Fuck him. He’s been spouting America Fuck Yeah propaganda for most of the fanfic. Not to mention his pride as an Orlesian.

He claims his future nation will be the first ‘real nation’. Fereldan did it first, and it didn’t need a fucking cheat sheet, nor did it collapse into tyranny and mob rule almost immediately. It the most meritocratic, egalitarian state in Dragon Age, and he’s rampaging through it because it’s in the way
