So while I was reading this a pair of Sophie B. Hawkins song came up on my playlist. I paused for a bit then nodded. Yep. those work. The first was "Damn, I wish I was your lover", (which fits this fic in several ways: "I had a dream I was your hero"... "I'll do such things to ease your pain," ... "Let me in," let me love you, and of course the title). The other one was "As I Lay Me Down", which also does "...wake up happy". Then "Call It Off" by Tegan & Sara came up, and I went "nope", and listened to something else.

I'm not really up to writing an actual review at this time of the morning, but maybe I'll come back later when I've got some time. Thanks again for writing. :)

You wrote a second chapter! I've no idea how I missed part 2 of this story on LJ or whether you've just included it but what a lovely ending to a poignant story. I've never been entirely convinced about the subtext between Alicia and Kalinda but the way you write them makes the possibility of a love between them compelling and believeable. Thank you for sharing your work.
