Azimuth Zero chapter 7 . 5/27 This fic was absolutely magnificent. The canon-divergence in chapters 6 and 7 are so, so perfect. I think I prefer this series of events more than the canon, at least with Burial at Sea taken into account. On a more technical note, I really hate third-person perspectives that jump between thoughts of different characters (I'm a strong advocate for limited, close perspective) but you've somehow done the impossible and created the best of both worlds with your head-hopping. Simply masterful, I'm addicted to your writing. I'm diving straight into the sequel after this. |
TheLifeLongEditor chapter 7 . 9/10/2019 Hello, This was quite a "powerfully" written story, I don't know how else better to describe your talent with capturing the torment and pain that elizabeth experienced at the hands of Comstock as well as Booker and Her's relationship and how certain revelations turned everything on its head. Overall this is a very well written story, you did a great job exploring a very dark moment of the game! Keep up the great work! Respectfully, TheLifeLongEditor |
Epicweaver chapter 7 . 1/11/2018 fun |
badkidoh chapter 7 . 12/12/2016 great story. |
Lupus Macbeth chapter 1 . 8/30/2016 ahh quite nice i like it. |
Bonsaiblob chapter 7 . 8/5/2015 You know, this chapter in all of its magnificent brilliance (alongside the last one, natch!) was what I've hoped for when I've stumbled across this story and read its summary. The way you explored Elizabeth's inner demons while skillfully interweaving her introspection with flashbacks of their "first time" gave it an amazing sense of flow. I especially liked the brutal honesty with herself about what she wants, why she wants it, why she did what she did and what she might become and might already have become. Another nice little detail I really liked was the fact that - from her perspective - their first time wasn't as bad for her as Booker made it out to be in the first chapter. Just one more thing he thinks he has to feel guilty about. I'm really glad I did stick with your story and I'm even more glad that there's a sequel on the horizon. Because wherever you're going to take us with this journey, I'm certain that I won't be disappointed. Except if it ends too soon, of course. ;-) Anyway, I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel! |
KingNova3 chapter 7 . 8/3/2015 Great chapter and good writing with perfect lines. I'll be waiting for the next chapter. |
TralfamadoreUndone chapter 7 . 8/3/2015 Elizabeth finally making peace with the twins...how can she not? When she sees far more than them and what they could be. To be honest, while omniscient!dom!Liz can be a turnon, and her conflicted emotions over what should be and what is, is a delight to read, it can also get old if not mixed up with an uncertain Elizabeth, unsure of what path she must take. Like the Liz we see at the very end. Eagerly anticipating the sequel, as well as dimension travel. It would be great to see a Dewitt-Comstock face/off in a different world(worlds even, where Booker takes the baptism and doesn't go nuts and becomes a priest or something). Maybe Rapture. Hell, maybe even space. There was an easter egg in BI where a woman wonders after reading the newspaper, what would be a city on the moon be like? Something to ponder. A city, a man, and a girl. It'll be interesting where they go from here: Booker will kill a thousand Comstocks at a word from her, yet he'll never want her to so much as harm a fly. Again, you can even do your own version of the Burial at Sea DLC. I didn't like the overall flow of it, but there were some great Booker/Elizabeth moments involved. BTW, have you uploaded this on AO3? There are a few other great Bookerbeth stories there. Again, looking forward to more, TF. |
Anon chapter 7 . 8/3/2015 More bookerbeth fanfic, moreover with this kind quality, is always good. Hope you release soon the sequel |
KingNova3 chapter 6 . 7/25/2015 This chapter really hit me hard and I it's very rare to see Booker cry out loud with so many tears in any fanfic that involves romance between Anna and him. No pun intended when I said 'so many tears.' Can't wait for the next chapter! |
KingNova3 chapter 5 . 7/25/2015 I took in too much detail in this chapter because of how amazing it was. This single fanfic kept me elated and I wonder what would happen when they found out ;) |
KingNova3 chapter 4 . 7/25/2015 What I really like about your writing is that you give out a lot of detail such as Elizabeth's pain or Booker's experience in a fight since he was a kid. This chapter has got me excited to read the next and I think that I'm already hooked to this fanfic. |
KingNova3 chapter 3 . 7/24/2015 There is a few moments which I was surprised and I loved the writing. The part with Ruth bringing her water was priceless because of what Anna told her and the last part surprised me most even though it's a bit unoriginal but because of the set up; it was very unexpected. |
Bonsaiblob chapter 6 . 7/23/2015 For a moment I wondered how Elizabeth would even consider letting the drowning happening, considering the depth of their feelings compared to the original story. Making the initiator of that scene an alternateworld!Elizabeth was quite a clever little twist. It would certainly be interesting to see the emotional impact the endgame revelations have had on her and how her thought process went to get to that point. All in all, that was really an intense chapter. You handled the aftermath of their newfound knowledge with care and authenticity, like I hoped you would. It's just a bit of a pity that we didn't get to witness their final confrontation with Comstock. Now THAT would have made for an epic scene: Elizabeth's newfound perspective on what Booker is and might become, Comstock confronting Booker with self-righteous indignation at him sleeping with their daughter and the crushing emotional impact that revelation would've had on him, etc. That kind of build-up might've made the impact of this chapter even more powerful. Now I *really* want to know where you're going to take us with this journey. I'm a bit concerned that crafting your story around the greatest weakpoint of the original story, namely its interpretation of the Many Worlds Theory, might weaken it in the same way it did the original story, if you're not careful. But as long as you keep it grounded enough by centering your narrative around these two characters and their interactions with one another, I think you should be fine. ;-) Anyway, as always, I'm looking forward to future updates! |
KingNova3 chapter 2 . 7/22/2015 Things just get better and better. Wonder what's going to happen next. |
