| Su No Yo chapter 1 . 6/22/2016 I love this. It's very visceral and emotional, yet it treads a fine line between that and being almost straightforward because Zuko's trying to be strong for Izumi. In every other line you can see how much Zuko cares for her and how terrified he is of hurting her because of the shadow Ozai cast upon his whole family. And I have to admit that I adore how Zuko calls Iroh Izumi's grandfather. I believe that the implication is that Izumi's the first person Zuko's ever actually told what happened *from his point of view* so that makes it a very warped father-daughter bonding moment, but one that's *incredibly necessary* for them both. |

| Private Fire chapter 1 . 7/9/2015 My favorite parts of the story are the details. Iroh is grandpa, plain and simple; Ozai is unworthy. Izumi casts herself in Zuko's role as he casts himself in Ozai's. She wouldn't fight her father and it makes Zuko sick to imagine doing to Izumi what Ozai did to him. Also, Izumi doesn't see her father as scary, nor, I would imagine, ugly. Wonderful father/daughter interaction. |
