frdbrlw1 chapter 13 . 3/17 Earth is acting totally illogical in this, there in a complete seperate area of space out of the colonials reach, and they dont even know earths location, so why are the tauri trying so hard for this alliance when they are so belligerent towards them even after they saved them. There demanding there technology be turned over to them due to some misplaced sense of divine right. In this situation the best for earth to do would just be cut contact. And the excuse of needing there help with training is stupid, Earth had multiple offsite world locations where most of there pilots and crew where stationed so even if earth military bases where attacked they would still have experienced pilots. Then there is the fact that 304's are so powerful fighters are kinda obsolete, and inexperienced crew wouldn't affect there combat potential much against such weak enemies. They dont even have shields much less energy weapons there 0 threat to the tauri unless they somehow got to earth and dropped nukes which seeing how there in a separate part of the galaxy is impossible with there slow ftl. |

Nathaniel999 chapter 13 . 3/14/2019 MOAR! Excellent pacing, each chapter progresses the story at a brisk pace with still being jam-packed with detail and MEANINGFUL dialog. You have achieved what I think a lot of writers struggle with, and that would be the balance. You have a lot of detail but none of it is redundant or unnecessary, and your dialog keeps everything at a brisk pace while staying in character. THANK YOU! |
oxyd2013 chapter 13 . 3/10/2019 I honestly don't buy the whole: "we need the colonials because we crave experienced crews, therefore we will accept EVEN THE WORST possible kind of alliance". It doesn't make sense considering the whole colonial immaturity and the certainty they will do everything to impose their views on their wayward cousins. If one believe even a small fraction of the setup you planted, war with the 12 colonies is coming for sure. If Earth military and politicians can't see that with the undeniable evidences right under their eyes, your whole story becomes much less believable. One can even argue that the tau'ri have MUCH more experience than the colonials when it comes to real threats like the wraiths, Lucian Alliance, Goa'ould and Ori remnants. And if that's not the case, just build more drones and more missiles: Problem solved! BTW, I know space-fighters are an inescapable tradition in sci-fi but I fail to see how they can be of any use when you have long-range and quasi-instantaneous death-rays like lasers, close proximity defense grid, or cheap missiles in sufficient quantities. Just imagine space fighters merging at tens, hundred, if not thousands of kilometers per second and pushing tens if not hundreds of gravities of acceleration: the furball becomes the size of a solar system, and for what benefit? So that you can destroy another fighter? It can't decide the issue of a space battle. IMHO, the way the wraiths, goa'oulds and colonials fight with swarms of manned space-fighters is extremely wasteful, outdated and ultimately pointless. Fighter-bombers become interesting inside a gravity well or in free-space when delivering long range attacks like bomb-pumped plasma or lasers. At closer range (under a few light seconds), a defense grid with an iphone computing ability can get rid of any space-fighter or their payload. Anyway, I like the story about SG-13 immersed in colonial society but I have doubts about this whole diplomatic-stunt-for-dubious-reasons. So, thank you... ish. |
