I've not seen the movie.
But this story touches upon a real thing that I've seen in science fiction before.
If a person moves at FTL, they carry a pocket of their own time with them, that they age in which moves with them, while time outside of their pocket moves at normal speed. So a 4 year journey at a certain speed of FTL could be 80 years in normal time.
