CraftyNotepad chapter 1 . 5/15/2015 Warmest greetings musicluffler, Welcome! What an absolutely perfect first impression you've made with your story, "Thrift Shopping Done Right." (Yes, you're in good company with those here who do care about and for our favorite Pickford inhabitants.) Those are wonderful elements you've harvested from the series; I've been wondering when portable changing room inventor Roger Nucci was finally going to surface in a FanFiction tale with his anti-puddinator attitude. Wonderful, as was learning that Keely still can't remember much about her dinner with the Diffys and their pet time hole despite her best efforts. I guess The Giggle cannot record what transpires during Time Jumps. Sort of a "what happens in Vegas" kind of a deal. Now, you let Keely play dress up with her friend-boy and we're invited to listen in. You have great love for these characters, obvious not only because your first FanFiction story is about their relationship, and not Curtis and his pet rock. The way you have Keely grab Phil's shoulders to steer him out of Mrs. Eldridge's zone, the effervescent delivery by Miss Teslow as this tale commenced, her motivating her pal into an afternoon of clothes shopping with just a little eye-fluttering and out of sight footsying, and the playful rules Keely established for their sweater war come across as naturally as if they would be broadcasted in a new episode tonight. (I half-expected Keely to give Phil the sundress to wear and remind him that he agreed to both buy and wear whatever she picked out for him.) You truly are familiar with these two love bugs; so much so, that Phil's reoccurring eye-roll come with a new twist - and that's good because Phil and Keely roll their eyeballs around here more than Mr. Spock raises his eyebrow or Pim digs tunnels. You may be interested to know that there is a thrift store Keely shops in one of the first PotF scripts written, yet unproduced. While you have not been busy with ScoRose, you have been channeling a rose of another color in your writing: _Second Hand Rose_: a gently-worn clothing store both Tia and Keely frequent for stylish, yet inexpensive attire to spruce up their wardrobes, particularly when the store holds one of its parking lot sales. (Dinner and a Movie and a Nine Foot Dwarf #003) Your creation of a thrift store shares the same atmosphere as Tim and Doug's Rose. Reverie, absurdity, coaxing … you treated us to some fine vocab', musicluffler. Always nice when an author takes the time and makes the extra effort. All in he , this tale comes across as a polished gem, not a raw diamond coughed up by the Earth. There are no actual give-aways which spoil the ending. The intimacy of the changing room was neither reached artificially (hey, Mrs. Eldridge is going to give one of her best customers a little leeway room when it comes to allowing only one person in the changing room at a time, particularly when the door was left open initially.), nor did their confessions to one another turn into a thrift store porn production. You set out to pen a love story and you succeeded. Phil is constantly distracted by and day dreaming of Keely. Keely is keen on her best friend, and, while she is shy a skyak of her own, finds a way to drag her slow-to-get-it pal along on an adventure among the racks. Pim's reaction provides proof that their day was a success. That, and that they are so comfortable together in the car. Phil's no longer plagued with thoughts of having to return to 2121 because he's decided upon his future. What an impressive and generous story for your premiere, musicluffer. Here's hoping you have another PofF story in you that you'll be nice enough to share. Best CraftyNotepad . .. . .. _G;/\/\/\\\\ 1107 |
