I enjoyed this. You filled in the gap that these episodes leave with the audience wanting more. Your characters were right on the mark.

Oh, I LOVED this little missing scene! And the fact that it's Porthos who keeps all of them grounded with his practical application of both wisdom and comfort.

I can SO see a drunk and morose Athos terrified that he's killed d'Artagnan. Loved these next to last lines too - ...'completely unaware of grateful he was to them in that moment. And in every moment since he had met them.'

I too am an Athos girl and that portrayal was spot on in my meager opinion! It may be the way Athos tortures himself, how wine is his weapon of choice or how his self loathing skips over all the good he does with the Musketeers but this is one wonderfully broken character held together by that very motto and the friends that prove those words to be true with their loyalty. There were a few especially masterful touches amongst the general richness that is your story telling, loved the way you had Athos articulate his response to Pothos so as not to slur, ever the Comte, even when he's six sheets to the wind! Also his attitude towards Arimis' lack of knocking, it was one of those subtle brush strokes that show the reader how much time these men have clocked together and how well they truly know each other. Aw, Honey, this is so sweet! I know Athos had to be a little upset, but we didn't get to see it in Show. You really nailed each of the characters. Thank you for sharing this bit of lusciousness with us.

This was great! I have to say that one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much is that even though it focused on Athos, it was just as much about d'Artagnan's wound and Aramis and Porthos' reactions, proving the point you and I have been making that this show truly is 'one for all'. You can have your favorite (which, we clearly do, even though it's not the same one) but to write a really good story about them, you have to give equal measure to the others because they comprise a whole. Nicely done.

I really can't state enough how much I love this! This is exactly the sort of scene that I needed after that episode. :) Angsty Athos...so perfectly captured! Can I get all Oliver Twist on it now and ask for more? More please? With some hurt too? LOL
