Still, the HOH's answer to Severus's question as to why they allowed the bullying left a sour taste in my mouth. There is no good answer I realize: perhaps that's why it leaves me a bit hollow.

I also can't believe the castle would allow the concept of "greater good" when approving Severus cruelty to one of her students as well as the acceptance and support of the other HOH's.

But, then there wouldn't be a story would there? :-)

It's... nice. There are so few fics that don't ridicule Severus, make him seem pitiful, or make him Harry's GUARDIAN (not that i don't like those... but, one can only stand so many).

I really liked this idea. I think if there was more honesty and cooperation in canon, so many things would have gone better! Great work.

Wonderful! I loved that Hogwarts itself is the determining factor in just who takes care of its children. And I loved that the other professors accepted Hogwart's approval of Severus and grew to appreciate him for his sacrifices along the way. This was the perfect way to set up your series, and I can see the seed that is planted here to make them grow the way that they have. Well done, Ree. I really liked it!

A look at the four Heads of House like no one else can write, Ree. I'm not sure if JKR could be this detailed - they feel more well rounded (or 3D) than hers did in the books...

I love the use of magic and mystery about the Hogwarts crest hiding that secret room, about the rules and the honesty and the Quartz and the yes, even the portraits. I agree - Hogwarts need utmost honesty amongst her heads to ensure their loyalty to her. Your showed that wonderfully and at least they knew why Severus had to act that way to Harry even if they didn't like it.

I liked how they gathered each year to reaffirm their position and be tested on their loyalty. Severus' fears as the years passed was well justified and of course Hogwarts recognised him. It's your story after all :)

And I guess I shouldn't even try to imagine a Snarry-ish ending to this story, should I? *grins at you and tiptoes away, ignoring the fact that she is doing it anyway*

I liked finding out more about the Head's of House and what they knew.

A great line "Slytherin will guard the shadows" I liked the insight into Hufflepuff as well many not just from that House would prosper outside of school I think.

The chairs were cool.

I liked what was done about Riddle as a wraith he was weak and it was the best time to deal with him.

I am glad Albus does not know everything that goes on inside the school.

Wonderful story! I love all of your Head of House stories, the camaraderie the four Heads display for one another is pleasantly heartwarming. It works too having them working together behind the scenes without the students being aware. Since you say this is just a prequel, a mere taste of what is to come, then I beg you to hurry. I can't wait to read the whole story. You've definitely intrigued me with the whole 'exorcism in the graveyard' teaser.
