I feel for both Remus and Sirius here. Remus has had time to grieve and let go of their relationship (and indeed, he would have had to in order to survive), to grow past the love he felt in his late teens/early twenties and become a man in his mid thirties. Sirius, on the other hand, hasn't had the same chance to move on - he's been in Azkaban for twelve years fretting over his mistakes. Neither of them are at fault for those things, but it does lead to a very difficult and heartrending situation where Remus has moved on and Sirius has not.
