Honestly, It would have been smarter to never show up to the defense and leave it to Tyrion, but this is Joffrey here...

was his sword valyrian steel at that point? then you have had his sword go through his foot and into the stone, nailing it to the floor :D (also, providing proof he'd done it himself :P)
