| Guest chapter 8 . 7/6 About Gate. Hate to say it, but the author was spot on with his depictions of foreign powers, especially if you consider at the time he wrote the original story, Bush, a known warmonger obsessed with finishing daddy's war was in office, and towards the series rebirth, Obama was in office, whom seemed determined to destroy every standing alliance the United States had (like Israel and Japan) and establish new alliances with socialist powers (Europe, China, and Russia), so he was pretty spot on. Also his depictions of China and Russia are absolutely true, especially theirs and the US's obsession with capturing the girls from the Gate. However, the whole premise about Japan invading through the Gate would actually cause an international incident because Japan by treaties is not allowed to have an invading military force, which I think is what he was trying to portray through the political aspect, the JSDF stands for Japanese Self-Defense Forces, keywords 'SELF-DEFENSE', they're not an invading army. Also, he did do good on the politics, some Japanese politics were negatively portrayed as whimpering cowards looking to exploit the Gate and on America's side, it was I believe the Secretary of State whom was the bad guy, not the President himself, and usually SS has always held more militaristic views than the President, so he wasn't far off. Back to the story... LOVE the idea of putting Rias and Sona through the Bell Test! This is awesome! Can't wait to see how it unfolds! |
