For being your first piece of fanfiction this one shot actually came out pretty good. My first piece of fanfiction here on this website was an eight thousand word block of text lol.

You do a good job getting into Kaede's character. While Yuzu has never been absent in the anime I would expect Kaede to react similarly if it did happen in the anime. In fact I can actually see this being a fifteen minute half of an episode. Neither Yuzu or Kaede are really explored much. While this is a bit of bummer (I really enjoy Kaede's character) it gives you quite a bit of leverage in when writing them out.

Kaede isn't out of character here but she does behave differently due to Yuzu's absence. Her contemplating her true feelings for Lemon-san is something I wish happened in the anime but you did a good job describing it here.

My only gripe is that there is hardly any interaction between Yuzu and Kaede towards the end of the one shot. I would have liked for them to have talked more, perhaps even have Kaede voice her insecurities to her best friend.

Overall I feel that this is a solid one-shot and pretty good for your first attempt.
