I was thoroughly enjoying what you had going, but if you want to work to make it better more power to ya. I thought your pacing and character building were both pretty good already though I agree it looked to be shaping into a stomp fic without additional threats (which I assumed might come in the form of geth/collectors/reapers/something). At any rate, glad to see it's not dead and I look forward to whatever you put out next. :)

On one hand I'm bummed out, on the other hand I'm looking forward to the improved version.

I'm really liking this story so far, and I can't wait to see how it goes on from here, especially how the Council races will react to this new race, and how future confrotations/meeting will go.
Also really loving your OCs, especially Rat.

Well this is kinda neat, nice to see a different take on an ME encounter. Well written, but it does leave me having to guess a lot of stuff that's going on. For their quick healing and stuff, it makes me wonder if they need to eat a lot more if they get hurt to have the nutrients and such to heal, or really how their biology works. For instance insects can do insanely powerful things, like carry ten times their weight (ants) or leap the equivalent of a football field (fleas) but when you scale them up they literally can't survive beyond a certain size. In biology we discussed that if you made a grasshopper a certain size, it would need hurricane force winds for its spiracles to allow it to breathe and their organs would't do well with the weight of the chitin, of even themselves.
Personally I like a lot of exposition and world building and this does give some of that, giving insights as to how their culture works with the Aethus and matriarchs. It's almost like a hivemind, but not entirely, so I'm guessing that the stolen genetic material allows them to get some of the higher thinking functions of the races they have 'assimilated.' Thus leading to the abnormals who've perhaps taken too much genetic data from higher lifeforms, differentiating them from the drones.
Highly OP in terms of strength and regeneration, but occasionally that's fun to read. I would have thought that the smarter they get, the more fragile they become because of specialization. For instance you can cut of the head of a cockroach, and it will survive till it starves, but a cockroach will never write a symphony. Whereas the smarter one with higher function (Humans, dolphins, ect) are able to perform very complex tasks and learn, but are relatively fragile by comparison. Losing a limb is generally very bad for our health.
Little surprised they were able to survive the vacuum of space without any protection, but if you're making a terrifying monster, there's no half measures to be taken. Go big or go home.

Huh, don't know what that thing is, but it looks like they might use technology similar to the Youzon Vong (Pretty sure I spelled that wrong) in star wars. Also hella strong.

I don't know if you built this based on a different game or story ir thought the Aethus stuff up yourself but I am intrigued as to where you are going with it. sounds like a good story!
