Actually, I think I'd like Aramis' hugs best, cause I'd most likely love the charming commentary that went with it. But I have to admit that Athos' hugs, especially the physical ones, seem quite intense. What I wonder now is this: What are d'Artagnan's hugs like? :D

Aramis! would totally be my favorite hugger. He's seems so attuned to that kind of thing that he'd know if/when you needed a hug and what kind [like a interchangeable screwdriver, but with hugs LOL](though I think I'm a bit biased because I love Aramis so much,) but I can understand why d'Artagnan would love Athos' so much. It's because they are rare and he keeps his emotions so shut in, that when he finally does expression himself, it's like a wave, so you get all his built up feelings. Porthos is a go-bog or go-home kind of guy, so he'd give you those bone-crushing, breathless hugs, though I bet he'd give those warm big-teddy-bear hugs too that you just melt into.

That's a really hard question! In general, I'm not a fan of hugs, but when I do get hugged, I like it to be the kind that could lift me off the ground, so I'd probably like Porthos' hugs best.

This is great! And it's Porthos. Definitely. He's big and strong, nothing against Athos, Aramis and D'Artagnan, but he'd be the one I'd feel the safest while being hugged.
(Funnily enough, I wrote an author's note for one of my stories based on how it would feel if they gave hugs.)

Good job creating a backstory for d'Artagnan! Guess we knew that his mom had died but to add a baby sister, that part was so sad. Such a shame his father shunned open affection afterwards.

It's fitting you wrote that the dam broke in terms of hugs after d'Art got his commision. Loved the way you showed each of them worried about d'Art and then hugging him. You're so right in that Aramis' hugs are gentle and soothing, Pothos' engulf d'Art in safety and warmth, and Athos' probably leave d'Art with the biggest high since they are rarely given. The best one probably depends on what he needs at the moment. It's so sweet how he sinks into each embrace.

I think if it was up to us fans, each episode would contain hugs, and end with them sleeping snuggled up together *lol* :-)

Although you gave dArtagnan a rather sad background story about the loss of his mother and sister, I can imagine such a scenario for him. Maybe this is one source why he cares so deeply for the ones who are near to him and has this strong tendency to protect them. Also it reminds me how moved he was when he spoke to Pepins little daughter about the loss of her father in .

I also loved your lines about Constances hugs reminded him of his mothers hugs. Although it cannot be denied their love holds as much passion as devotion, I have always been thinking he feels attracted by her motherly side as well.

As for Aramisand Porthoshugs, I think you described them very well, the hugs as well as the characters behind them. I absolutely agree, Aramis simply knows which kind of hug is needed and to
me dArtagnan is doing some kind of throwing himself into Aramis arms when they are you are right about Porthos, his hugs are bigger than life.
And Athos hugs are rare and he never hugs lightly, but when he hugs he means it, which makes the intensity which d Artagnan senses in his hugs.

I admit I cannot decide for who gives the best hugs, because every hug belongs to the person who gives it, but maybe the most important hug in this story is the hug of dArtagnans mother. Because with this final embrace on her death-bed she managed to assure her son of everlasting love for him.
To me this makes big deal of dArtagnans character, his strong belief and faith in any kind of love (he has this, even if is putted on a test by his reaction with Constance), which is the result of having experienced to be loved and cherished in his childhood.

I also loved this "One day someone is going to hug you so tight that all your broken pieces will stick together again." Wonderful words and I think this is a main part of what the hugs of Aramis, Porthis and also the shoulder clapping with Athos in 1x08 were about.
