This is the first time a chapter has been written from Zero's perspective, right? It's pretty well done, and your Zero definitely has a distinct "voice" compared to Iris' chapters. You should write from Zero's perspective more often. You don't have to force yourself to alternate between one POV and the other, though; that would probably be too taxing for your muse.

Iris' "conscience" is probably doing repeated Kuuenzans (Zero's double jump flip attack from X4) in the black dream-space. So much for avoiding Zero. But then again, the only reason their relationship in X4 didn't work out was Iris' brother Colonel, who chose death over dishonor. Any conflicts that could come between Iris and Zero without Colonel around can be solved without him, so they can fall in love again without issue.

In fact, Zero must be a part of Professor Dahlia's final wish for Iris, so avoiding Zero is counterproductive on top of being undesirable. And thanks to the tracker, it's also straight-up impossible.

Tl;dr: It doesn't matter what Ms. Conscience thinks, Iris/Zero is still the best ship.

Okay, Zero even having such glorious hair is basically a war crime. But neglecting such a treasure is unforgivable! Pay no attention to that electric feeling...

I've seen a few fanfics where Zero's hair is secretly a mass of weaponized, prehensile filaments disguised as the prettiest hair ever built. It actually makes sense, considering he was built by THE mad scientist, Dr. Albert Wily. No one would expect an attack from his hair!

Thank GOODNESS, the secret of Iris' relation to the OTHER Iris is finally out! She's a copy body with the original's soul, and her memories are temporarily scattered. She's just like Zero in that regard, now that I think about it.

A stressful job can do that to an author. Between work and a hardware failure, it's actually quite impressive that you finished this update at all!

To be fair, there wasn't all that much to be done with this chapter. It's a slow section of the story. But you finally got that reveal out of the way! Between that and the definite progress on the Zero/Iris fluff, I call this chapter an amazing success!

Zero can be kind of corny with his accidental romance, but he makes those corny lines work really well!

All the lateness excuses aside, I'm just glad SOMETHING updated. all my stories I follow have been slumping so you're actually something of a godsend. And as an added bonus we've made significant strides here towards an actual romance. So hurray to that, unless I'm reading this wrong and Iris falling for Zero would be a bad thing. As an added note, I found the idea of Iris being incredibly put out because Zero never brushes his hair to be hilarious. Thanks for giving me something to read, better late than never!

You know what? Im curious to know what Reploid hair is made of. I mean, like, come on. I hardly doubt Zero's hair manage to survive all those rebellions. That's gotta be hair steel if it did.
