And yet...the world needs to change so Snape doesn't die horribly, or Lily, either. Wasn't Eileen going to do something about that? If I recall correctly, she did.

I think as far as first meetings go, this was a success! Especially since the first, first meeting, Lily ran away from Severus. XD

Soooooooo sad... BUT! We know Severus grows up to be a father. Not necessarily a husband... *hint hint*

The way that you portray Severus’ visions, it’s almost become like a disability. He’s so afraid to look at anyone it’s almost as if he is actually blind. That’s such a sad way for an eleven year old to live. Quirinus is such a good friend for Severus to have, I’m not sure what he would have done without him!

Finally Lily makes an appearance! Although I think that Snape used her name before he actually knew what it was. Slughorn only refers to her as Miss Evans and in Snape’s vision he calls her Lily. Then later on he asks for her name. I find Severus’ reaction to Lily telling him about the Snapes that she knew to be a bit over the top. I would have expected him to assume that it was just someone with the same last name as him or perhaps some more distant relatives before he assumed she was trying to say something about his father.

That aside, I like the little friendship that you develop between Severus and Lily. I think it starts in such a natural way and I could easily seeing this as the point where they could build the friendship that they had in canon if you are going to take this story in that direction.

Again, Severus’ reactions seem a bit over the top to me. Trying to dictate who an eleven year old should eventually marry…. A bit much I think. Although you back it up with some good eleven year old logic, I would think Severus would realize there was plenty of time to give her a warning since she obviously wouldn’t be getting married or having a child any time soon.

Other than that though, I really liked this story and this insight into Severus and Lily’s first meeting. I think it worked well within the parameters of this particular story arch that you’ve created.

Horray a POV from little Sev's view! I'm starting to realize that you might be trying to explain his cannon odd posture with this 'afraid to see people's future' idea. I love it.

Poor thing has to try to block out bad stuff every time he looks at his best friend. It's one of those things that you know, but seeing it his way is heart breaking. I'm hoping that the next bit to this story will include some of Sev's view and not just Eileen like the last part. :)

Ohhhhhhhh interesting to see that he still has the memories from the cannon story, but that they just didn't happen. Nice touch. I look forward to moving on to the next parts.

This is a very nice sequel. I liked the beginning, with the friendly banter between Snape and Quirrell. I also liked Lily's mention of Tobias' possible other children. Seems like he moved on well enough.
Are you going to continue this? It's interesting. I also wonder if you'll actually make Severus try to change the future and save Lily from her fate.

That’s got to be a horrible way for Severus to spend his time at the castle. This may sound awful, but maybe he should look at everyone now and get the visions out of the way with on a controlled basis? I was under the impression in Mettle that he gets them the first time he sees the person, then it’s fine? Like with Quirinius he’s fine.

Finally, Severus is about to meet Lily! I normally don’t like Snape and Lily interacting, but I’ve been curious how this Severus will react when he sees her eyes.

The only thing is that Lily is referred to as ‘Lily’ in the narrative before she introduces herself.

Severus hate little half-brothers, awww. Shame he probably will never meet them.

Ohhhh, I get it now. Snape knew her name was Lily before he even met her, because he’s seen all the alternative verse memories. That's got to be so weird, having memories of a different you and things that will never actually happen.

Oh, Severus and Quirrell as friends at Hogwarts? That's interesting! I really like the mention of liking his hair long as a method to "hide".

Snape getting lost is so funny! I kind of like the dynamic of the relationship, with Quirrell as the more assertive leader and Snape following him. The comment about getting lost between the Great Hall and the dorm made me laugh.

I love how Slughorn knows Eileen Prince. I mean, of course he does. Slughorn knows pretty much everyone. :)

I thought this was a wonderful one-shot. I loved how they met, and hated it at the same time because *of course* Lily's not going to listen. D: Which is tragic and sad. I absolutely loved the ending, though.

I enjoyed reading this one-shot. I like the fact that Quirinus is so outgoing, helps Severus, and tries to give him advice. I suspect he's a lot like his dad. I think it was a realistic first meeting between Severus and Lily both being a bit nervous and awkward. I'll bet Severus thought he blown it completely with Lily when he blurted out his advice, but she seems to have taken it well. I'm glad he doesn't have the two Stooges (Potter and Black) on his ass.

It is interesting. I can't say if it would be realistic or not since my perspective often differs from most people, so... But it is very interesting. Wonder if Lily will keep that in mind.
