Your story had left a deep impact on me. The message of this story had truly made me ponder about these days...yes, people growing up and following what they are expecting to do in their own lives, it is what it is for a human being. Yet, there are many of us, enjoying the freedom and the moment we have right now compared to others, it feels as though we are left to wonder and think about life, by ourselves... This is beautifully written. I can't help but say that I feel the same way that you do sometimes. I first got into the Sonic fandom at fourteen, and here I am at twenty, lonely and pathetic (lol). Just like Shadow, I continue to cling to that dead dream.

Wow. You've definitely hit some truth there with the idea that the Sonic fandom has moved on. I mean I still love the series and I always will, but it feels like the new games have lost their soul a bit. I mean, the character of Shadow in Sonic Boom holds no resemblance to the Shadow created in Sonic Adventure 2. I think the Sonic Team has forgotten us fans and moved on to the little kids who don't know about the characters and who they really are.
Anyway, rant over. This was a brilliant thing to read, a perfect summation of Shadow's inner struggle. You've definitely nailed it.

Neat lil' flesh-out of Shadow, Dark! It's nice to see him laid a bit more bare and (somewhat) vulnerable. His lack of tear ducts is also a nice kick to the heartstrings.

The awesome thing about fandoms is that while it's sad that old fav contributers are moving on/over/out, NEW people are streaming in all the time! Idk if I'm getting my point across properly because I'm not half as eloquent with my words as you are (nerd), but you - and Shads - shouldn't lament over the past so much because the future has SO many possible opportunities for awesome stuff to happen! Sure, Shads will never be able to hang with Maria again, and some of those authors you admired may never rejoin the StH fandom (*sweats and shuffles away*)... But Shads can create NEW happy memories with Sonic and co., and you're gonna find some fresh talent/people to admire in this massive fandom. So chin up, you little emos. Grass is greener and all that other uplifting b/s. :p
