Immortal ninjaaa chapter 13 . 5/22/2019 its as if shes doomed to be a... housewife, with Zuko always leaving her behind which really annoyed me in chapter 8 and even in this. No wonder Mai gave up on him. |
Immortal ninjaaa chapter 8 . 5/22/2019 Didn't expect that time skip there. Thought it would follow their journey throughout the war. It's the first time that I've read a fic that's skipped the war stuff and I really wanted to see Kai meet with gaang properly since I really liked her fight with Sokka the other chap. |
Immortal ninjaaa chapter 4 . 5/22/2019 Kais blood boiling reminds me of Kataras blood bending. |
FictionIsSocialInquiry chapter 1 . 12/10/2018 What a great premise! Also I like MC's-flying-by-the-seat-of-her-pants shenanigans - she is in waaaay over her depth XD |
The Jingo chapter 21 . 11/29/2018 Good read |
Miss Mello chapter 1 . 4/11/2018 I've finished the whole thing and have read the untold stories bit you have on your profile as well and I have to say, I enjoyed myself immensely. I feel, as you and I and all other writers on this website don't get paid, the least people can do is write a review. What I thought was so refreshing about this story was that Kai's relationship with Zuko was an equal one. So often in media (and amplified in fanfiction) the girl draws the shorter end of the romantical stick and although kick ass moments may be included, it's usually a case of everything being about how she'd sacrifice everything for him and how he saves her from everything, everyone and herself. So often "A Great Love" is measured through how little they care about everything else in comparison to how much they care about each other. While, in reality I think, it's more about how much effort and patience and understanding you can have for one another while at the same time not holding short on the love you have for others. What you do so brilliantly is maintaining that balance in which their life and their story is not consumed by their love. Kai keeps thinking about home, when she's apart from Zuko but also when they're together and sometimes it has to be on the backburner for a bit but it never disappears. And Zuko has his things as well! First he has his "Big Important Mission" to focus on, his own thoughts of going home keeping him occupied but then he gets back and it turns out life doesn't get easier (or not much) and new problems pop up as he now is the Firelord! But amidst that all they still find time, they're still so in love. I love how you balanced their physical relationship with their emotional and intellectual. In fanfiction it's usually one or the other, whichever it is, there's always one overshadowing another while a good relationship takes from all different sources. On another note, I also think you had great detail in your own spirit world (the Amid, wasn't it?), the white world, and that it felt real as a reader. These things become too mystical and nonsensical so quickly but you really managed to keep it alive and grounded and anchored in reality. What I also thought was impressive that Kai actually had all the makings of a Mary-Sue but that somehow you steered clear of that particularly dreadful cliff. She came from a "Special Land", had an unusual hair colour, had a special ability/power. But it was all earned and justified. Especially her fighting and firebending. We really experience the work she puts in that and we can therefor appreciate her progress. She felt like a genuine character. If I could also give some developmental feedback, however minor, you can do with that whatever you want. I think something you might improve upon is that despite that Kai thinks about home in our world a lot, we never get very specific. She even tells Zuko about her home but somehow we never find out anything real about her. We learn she has a younger sister, that she's from "the North" (Scandinavia probably, as you are yourself from Denmark), but we don't learn much else about her background at all. I don't think much was needed, it was good that the focus wasn't on home itself but more on the longing for it, but some particulars would've been nice. Especially towards the end when her sense of homesickness came to the forefront so much. Small things, tiny memories, just little moments of recognition that would tie her to her past a bit more. It sometimes felt a bit too seperate from her I believe. I also think that sometimes your scene changes are a bit too sudden, where in one line we're doing this and that and we're here and there and the next line we're somewhere else entirely doing something completely different. That's it for me. I would like to once again say how much I enjoyed your story and how sad I am that it's indeed over. I thought your story read very honestly and loving and it was never dull. You write very engagingly and I think that, if you wish, you have a bright future ahead in writing if you keep it up. Thank you for your efforts! Lots of love, Miss Mello Truly, a fan. |
