And... regarding what I wrote for part 2 ... maybe this gives some insight in how sweet Wormmon turned into, well, Mercuremon.
Also, this is the first time I actually know what accent the character is using. So this is how you write a Southern accent *watches closely*
Anyway, seeing Ranamon's side of the story kinda makes Wormmon's piece even more depressing. He had a friend and he didn't even mention it, like he figured it didn't matter.
I feel like there is one too many use of "digivolved" in the third paragraph, the repetition lost it's emphasizing value and started to irritate me. It's this one here "He wasn't embarrassed that I digivolved before him" that jumped at me as overdoing it. The other uses were fine.
The closing line of paragraph 3 is good though.
Why did you use a hyphen in "cata-pillar"?
I ended up being really confused by the digimon evolution line mentioned. It wasn't clear from the start what kind of digimon Ranamon used to be or why this specimen was so closely related to Wormmon. I didn't even know Wormmon could digivolve into Angemon tbh or what Agumon and Koromon have to do with anything. It's not necessarily bad and I really like the beginning of the paragraph with Ranamon going on about their relationship, but in the end you lost me due to my lack of knowledge.
So I guess, her digivolving to protect him caused Wormmon to want to protect himself in his own tale - which shines a completely different light on him and makes me like him less, actually. It kinda looks like he doesn't want the person he loved to be stronger than him and that he couldn't deal with that. He only came back to her when he was strong again.
Then again, it looks like the Spirits themselves are the corruptors here - like the Spirit of Steel enhanced his bad traits and completely warped his sense of self. Or Cherubimon corrupted the Spirits, that could be it too.
Too bad Ranamon failed in her quest of saving Wormmon. I love the last two sentence which are a really good way to close this story. Helps in understanding how and why these two people changed so drastically.
