Reviews for The Prince's Guard
excessivelyperky chapter 1 . 9/10/2018
Wow. Just wow. This is an amazing story, especially with "Mettle" as the lead in. The Snape-Prince heritage is certainly safe with Eileen's namesake.
Fenris Jin chapter 1 . 10/11/2017
I love how it looks like an epilogue but has an open ending for more. Interesting to have this Severus create his own Horcrux despite him being less dark than his canon counter part. Although I suppose this one is a bit more pragmatic and would see the sense of keeping one if they already seen a vision of the rise of Voldemort.

Kudos on Eileen's success on her mission. The idea of her own stained glass depiction was brilliant!
ThePolyglot chapter 1 . 9/17/2016
And now I have one burning, unanswered question. Who was Tybalt's mother? Subquestion: Was Tybalt born of rape?
halffictionalprincess chapter 1 . 9/5/2015
I think it's haunting that Severus had to create a horcrux since he would've had to kill someone and it would have destroyed him despite the fact that it was necessary .
I like that the main character is named Eileen, and that his legacy would live on even though he wasn't able to to pass on to the next stage.
Well done!
Elise chapter 1 . 7/7/2015
Brilliant. :)
ChaseAwaytheNightmares chapter 1 . 6/18/2015
I liked it. It was a bit of a shock finding out Severus created a horcrux but I could see why he would do it even if it's a little horrifying. I think it'd be really interesting if there was a time in the near or distant future where this Eileen or one of her descendants needed to revive Severus.
ChatterChick chapter 1 . 5/28/2015
It was nice to get a bit of closure of what happened to Severus and Eileen I from Mettle, since the ending felt like the beginning to a larger story with Eileen going up against Voldemort.

[to be relate to such…] should be [related] and I’m a little confused who she’s ashamed to be related to… Severus for turning the family ring into a horcux? I thought she was proud of what he did (not the horcux, but the other stuff)

It’s interesting to think that Severus created a horcux for more ‘noble’ purposes, to come back and fight against Voldemort if he was ever resurrected. It’s a little sad that he doesn’t get to pass on to the next life though, or if there even would be since his soul is spilt.
Alethea27 chapter 1 . 4/7/2015
Nero sounds like a real prick or else Tom Riddle reincarnated. Even though horcruxes are dark, evil magic, in this case, I would say Severus did the right thing and it's good that his descendents are being vigilant about keeping it safe.
nymphxdora chapter 1 . 4/6/2015
Ah I love Mettle!

I love the way you begin it, as it sets the scene really well and I love the way you immediately set the scene: this isn’t the same Eileen, but she’s her namesake. The only issue I have is the last name: Eileen Snape-Prince. I’m really confused by this. Why does she have Snape in her name? Did Sev marry a Prince? Did he end up adding Prince to his last name? Also, if he did, it should be Prince-Snape because the wife’s name typically comes before the husband’s name, except in Spanish culture. Just nitpicking here!

I like the way that you show Tybalt telling the story of how Eileen went on to kill the Dark Lord. It’s masterfully told- much like a little fairytale, and then you pull us down suddenly by mentioning that he’s dead and then introducing us to the instructions.

OH IT’S A HORCRUX. I’m confused though- why did Snape have to make a Horcrux?

The scene between Eileen and her parents was really sweet and it was lovely how they tried to console her.

SPaG: ‘related’ to such an awful man.

The description is beautiful and it’s very well written, but I felt as if the plot of it was all over the place and not fully explained. Although it flows well, I have to keep going back and reading to try and make sense of some stuff. So yeah, I feel like there needs to be more explanation.

But otherwise, great job!
alyssialui chapter 1 . 3/16/2015
This was a very interesting story. It's odd to read about a time so far into the future, where even Severus' son has now died and this new Eileen is that man's great-grand-daughter. I love that Eileen eventually vanquished the Dark Lord, though she hadn't known about horcruxes it seemed (since you said the DEs found all the pieces and brought him back). Then Severus destroyed the horcruxes but just in case, he made his own so he may come back (in what state though? He would need a new body!?) Nero seems like a character though that would want to join the other side given the chance so Eileen better be careful.
Great one-shot and great beginning to a multi-chapter if you ever decide to expound on it.
Professor Radar chapter 1 . 3/13/2015
Awesome, awesome, awesome. This wraps up Mettle's future in a broad sense- enough to fulfil me if no other one shots or sequels are done. I don't know why, but from the stained glass window it seems to me like Eileen DID infiltrate the Death Eaters and possibly got them (or some of them) to betray the Dark Lord.

I still do wonder how some things turned out for Severus at Hogwarts. What other friends did he make? Did he make friends with Lily (I'm guessing no)? Was he bullied by the Marauders? How long did it take for Dumbledore to fully discover Severus's "gift"? How hard did Dumbledore try to use and manipulate him and how successful was he? Let's not fool ourselves- Dumbledore would totally try to use and abuse Severus's gift. How did Dumbledore treat Severus in school?

I'm guessing Harry wasn't born (or the canon Harry we know) since there was no boy-who-lived. I find it interesting that Nero seems a bit "off" and the Roman emperor Nero was cruel, violent, murderous and possibly crazy (early Christians even believed he was the Antichrist).

This AU could thrive on one shots (hint hint).
Lamia of the Dark chapter 1 . 3/3/2015
Ah, well, I feel better about the way Mettle was left hanging since this one provides some closure, but now I want to know what the heck is up with Nero and how he's "not right", and what's going to happen to this new generation of Princes.

T_T you just like to leave your readers hanging. Your new nickname is Gallows. Summer "Gallows" Leigh Wind. Yes.
The Lady Arturia chapter 1 . 3/1/2015
I know I keep skipping Mettle for your one-shots but I just really love your onesies and get excited to read them agh...

OH OH A LITTLE EILEEN this should be interesting

Oh gosh that description of the mosaic scene actually made me shiver. It was so simple yet so vivid.

"No Prince woman had more mettle," OHHH I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE

...I didn't read the summary and only just realised IS THIS SEV'S DAUGHTER? OK NO SEV IS HER GREAT GRANDPA...So then this Tybalt person is Sev's son? I am so confused...

I think I'm missing something really big here...

OH OK NOW IT MAKES SENSE I think you should probably put that A/n in the beginning or mention that in the summary because literally throughout the story I was so confused. BUT I LOVED IT. Especially how she named the ring Severus agh so much feels.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN REVIVE THE MAN WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS NEEDS A SEQUEL OR ANOTHER CHAPTER

Another fantastic story as always!
Fire The Canon chapter 1 . 2/26/2015
This was really enjoyable and interesting. Actually makes me curious to want to read Mettle now, as it seems like an intriguing storyline. The way you ended it here was lovely, and I think even this could be continued (like another far off future one where she does hand it to her child/grandchild). That would be interesting.

SPaG was great, and I spotted no errors. You did a good job. Well done!
Nightmare Prince chapter 1 . 2/25/2015
Hey

Merlin have mercy . . . I loved this more than Mettle - if that's even possible. The way in which you've woven in the storyline (and shown that Eileen was indeed victorious in her quest to vanquish Lord Moldensnort) of the original story into this sequel and yet still kept it fresh was truly epic.

I love the bit about Severus going off to destroy the horcruxes - that was wonderfully done. I'm sure he fared much better in his hunt than the Golden Trio did, and then he goes and makes one himself to ensure he can always be brought back to fight Voldemort should the Dark Lord ever return . . .

I love that.

The bit about the Prince line standing as guardians to the horcrux was fantastic. Excellent. Well done. Bravo.

And I just loved that Eileen was depicted in a Stained Glass Window. She is one hell of a woman.

Overall, a fitting end to the Mettle story.
