I am loving the hell out of this story. I like that you've chosen to go off the beaten track in some respects when it comes to writing out their journey. We've all read the books, and many of the fanfics, so it's refreshing to read something new but with the same flavor. Holly (love the last name, btw) is definitely real. She hasn't miraculously grown accustomed to her new life/world overnight, but she's also not a whiner (as some OC's in this situation are wont to be).

Now for a question you probably can't/won't answer: please, please, PLEASE tell me that that Romeo and Juliet hint you dropped in one of your author's comments doesn't mean what I think it means! I never appreciated Romeo and Juliet; they were both so damn blind and foolish I couldn't bring myself to sympathize or respect them over much. And I just really need Holly and Thorin to be happy. Together. Alive. ...Pretty please?

Anyway, I hope you come back to this story. I'll miss Holly and her misadventures until you do.

So I love your take on an original character during the Hobbit. She reflects a fairly normal modern person and how'd they'd feel about things without laying so thick into political differences or overlaps I feel like I'm being axe-kicked over the head with it. She's so very real. Your story is of the kind that draws a person in. The pacing is well done. This story is not a re-hash but a very gripping new perspective.

I'm glad you went with more of the book take on things. The movie was ok but the book was better. I love the details you put in like Thorin's beard and the elves playfulness :) I am stoked for what comes next.

I'm curious what your take on the female orc will be. The characters always struck me as evil. Didn't they come from elves that were tortured?

Will we get to see more of the dwarves magic?

How long do you think her hair will get by the end of the quest?

Tolkien himself stated in one of the books that dwarf women were 1/3 of the population of the dwarfs and where hidden away in their mountains. I understand this is 100% your story and what not but your authors note is wrong in the real world of how dwarf women are in the books and movies.

Omg I love Nori. I wish he was involved in more stories. He's badass!

I really love this chapter, and I agree about the different races in ME, I will go further by stating that authors don't write about Harad people or Southrons, not all of them were bad people I think, it would be cool to write about them, both good and bad.
