This is actually an amazing story, I like angel but i was never big on the angel Buffy pairing, them having deep feelings for each other yes even loving each other yeah but seeing Xander have to force angel into searching for Buffy on the night she was to die killed it for me.
Personally I hope you continue this often, and have angel have moments where his thoughts are like that of Xander and Buffy, when times are at their worse or he does not believe he can do something xanders example helps him see that just because it is written in stone from on high, does not mean it cannot be changed. Buffy's voice or example to keep it in perspective the good fight, the people and reason we fight and his own humanity even when times are their darkest.

I like how you presented the situation since Qui-Gon despite being a good man has an invested interest in getting Anakin into the Jedi Order and while it sounds wrong having a freed Shmi along with someone like Angel does not help that.

Having Angel gloss over the details of what he did was very IC.

About the pod's owner, most major stable slave economies of old (such as Rome) allowed slaves to own property and money of their own - this was to let them buy themselves free. Note that I say "stable"...the American South was not a _stable_ slave economy.

I never liked that about the Jedi; taking other people's kids to swell their own ranks and producing none of their own, because of the 'no attachment' rule. It sounds suspiciously close to the attitude of the Church concerning priests and the rule of celibacy. Which was only established to cut out the heirs of said priests and making sure that all of their property would go back to Mother Church.

Completely agree with you on Qui-Gon, though the Jedi as a whole never seemed very moral to me unless you're using the Sith as a comparison. They do a lot of slightly shady stuff, it really explains why no one really had a problem with Palpatine wiping them out until they saw that he was a lot worse.

Don't get me wrong Star Wars is still pretty awesome, I mean who doesn't think laser swords are cool, but like a lot of fandoms if you spend time to really think about it the good guys only seem good in comparison to the psychopaths that are the bad guys.

Since Anakin was watto's slave and he build the pod. The pod belong to watto. So basically Qui-Gon was playing with house money without the house knowing it.
