I think that the answer to both questions is no. Because, the Baratheon-Tyrell-Reyne alliance means one thing, a civil war in the Westerlands, which would give them the time to fortify the Riverlands; ; finally there is still the possibility the Vale joins them, evening the odds; It would be enought for the men wearing armor under theyr doublets, and having knives in thryr boots, and hand crossbows under they coats, plus ordining the outsider man to stay vigil and prepare to react against fool play; The moment Robb is asked to have Greywind chained, andd Olyvar is nowhere to be seen he knows it's really a trap. So, I think they sgould nothave done it, and even if, Robb should have survived it.

to be fair, the Starks have little reason to consider the Lannisters bad for destroying Reyne and Tarbeck in canon (they exterminated the Greystarks, a Stark cadet branch; not to speak of what the Hungry Wolf did in Andalos); I don't think there are any of the great noble houses who don't have several similar skeletons in their closets

The rise/destruction of house reyne would be an excellent story to read.. but the premise of this story is very much flawed, which is y i wont read passt chap. 1

this story is bloody brilliant, choppy writing but i love the story line. hope to see house reyne rise higher. keep it up, cant wait for the next chapter XD

I personally don't think that the Red Wedding would have happened because they were told that there would be no backlash for barking guest rights and the Freys would be afraid of Stannis punishing them. So in my mind something like the Red Wedding would happen but only after they got assured that there would be no backlash from the throne.
