Bookwrym chapter 3 . 6/16/2018 Likable characters and story, too bad it hasn't been updated in nearly three years so it is likely an unofficial abandoned story. Thanks for writing anyway. |
azulkan2 chapter 3 . 4/9/2017 Great story. Hope there is more. |
FotoDi chapter 3 . 9/19/2016 This girl is a really interesting premise on several fronts: 1) How does a neglected, ostracized, over-looked (Notice-Me-Not Charm) and probably abused pre-teen orphan deal with sudden Personal Fame, let alone comprehend his Hero Status within a Magical Society of which he was raised ignorant? •Obsessed & misinformed Fans; •Strangers of all ages Staring, Touching/Pointing & Gossiping about Him; •Fallacious and Wide-Spread Myths about the BWL; •Proliferation of Books, Dolls & Toys with his face contributing to the Outrageous BWL Myth; •Many People Profiteering from his Personal Tragedy; •School Peers all vying to be his "Friend" for a host of reasons, many of which are unsavory; •How do you live up to an exaggerated Heroic Myth when you do not even know the fundamental Cultural Rules, Mores, and Customs of this 'foreign magical world'. 2) How does an abused young orphan, begrudgingly raised wearing cast-off clothing, subsisting on table scraps, serving the pernicious whims of his abusers from early childhood, forced to perform to a lower standard so not to 'show-up' or detract from his cousin, labeled a 'Freakish' Embarrassment and Neighborhood Hooligan... deal with sudden star status and immense wealth? 3) How does a Muggle-Born or Muggle-Raised newly recognized (11-year-old) magical witch or wizard learn not only about the 'Secret' Magical World, but also their place in it? (JKR's cannon Harry Potter is in a unique situation among all his peers. However, your AU story tweaks the magical contacts and creates an ideal Nurturing/Training/Emersion environment whereby a new Magical can quickly get up to speed with his/her magically raised peers so as not to be at too great a disadvantage.) CONSIDER THE HARSH REALITY FACING A NEW MAGICAL: •Hogwarts does not offer a Wizarding Customs & Culture Course for Magicals raised in the muggle world. •Muggle Family or Guardians not only are forbidden from talking about and investigating the Magical World (due the the "Statute of Secrecy"), but the muggle Family have scant few legal "rights" within Wizarding World. •Muggle family cannot even visit (or see due to anti-muggle wards) Hogwarts castle where their child will board for 10 months a year, for the next 7 years. •There is no established support system or interface for the muggle families of these impressionable but ignorant young Magicals. •Even more galling, these Muggle families must pay exorbitant sums of British pounds to the almost impossible to contact (without-a-magical-to-breach-the-Muggle-Repelling Wards-in-Diagonal-Alley) ferocious Goblin Bankers of the sole magical bank, Gringotts. •Here is a question: How do Muggle Parents explain on their income tax forms high tuition bills to an unknown School paid through an unknown Bank! •Muggle families will not see much evidence of their child's education, increasing magical skills and successful projects over the years as young Magicals are prohibited from performing any magic away from Hogwarts grounds until they are 17 years old (or after their successful completion of a minimum number of Owls at age 15/16 and may drop out of Hogwarts.) •Muggle Families cannot visit Hogwarts. •There is no Phone Service; no E-Mail, Text Messaging, or Skype; neither Fed Ex or the Royal Mail connects these two societies. Photographs violate the Statute of Secrecy and must be guarded carefully. So, the sole point of contact is via Written Letters, which must be transported by (sometimes fickle) magical Owls. NO ORGANIZED SUPPORT FOR NEW MAGICALS: Neither the Muggle relatives nor the New Magicals themselves appear to have ever organized any form of a Support System. •There is no PTA. •No Government Office exists either within the UK Parliamentary or within the Ministry of Magic which is designated to mediate between Magicals and the Muggle Families of new Magicals. •There is no Muggleborn/Muggle-Raised Hogwarts Alumnae Network either in the Wizarding or the Non-Magical Communities. •There are no Magical "Big Brother" & "Big Sisters" or Wizarding Foster Familes to help new Magicals & their families. 3) How would cannon Harry Potter have fared if he had more knowledge of the Wizarding World? More resources? More advocates concerned for the confused child as opposed to sycophants judging the BWL, Cultural Idol? Any knowledge about the Potter Family wealth, history, and prestige? I really enjoy your AU story and hope you continue writing it. Thank you! |
Apeforsnape chapter 3 . 6/21/2016 Love this story...please continue it. |
bassoongirl14 chapter 3 . 5/9/2016 Awww! I totally love this! |
GodricGeoffreyGryffindor chapter 3 . 4/6/2016 It seems to me that they shouldn't just take Dumbledore's neglect lying down and assume that nothing can be done about it. They should at least write him a letter suggesting that he appears to have over-committed his time, what with his headmastership, his heading the Wizengamot, and his heading the ICW, and Harry is clearly not receiving the attention that he should be from a magical guardian. Detail the facts that Harry's living arrangements and welfare have never been checked, he's never received any information about the Wizarding world or his place in it from his guardian, and has never received any training regarding the rules, ettiquete |
