I really love this fic on so many levels. It was great that Safflower was assumed to be a mutt, who turns out to be a pure bred of high quality, because it plays into that 'Beauty and the Beast' "don't judge a book by its cover" theme.

It was very fitting that Belle kept taking care of wayward animals. I have always believed that OUAT Belle would have a great affinity for animals...I wish the writers would have explored that more in OUAT other than her having very, very brief encounters with a horse and Dalmatians.

It was a nice touch to use the reference to "Rainbow Bridge" as a lot of us who have lost furry family members are familiar with that term.

I love that Belle grabbed Rumple's rumple while his leather was wet and soapy...poor Rumple thought she was checking for a tail...he does indeed have self esteem issues.

The part about Saffy fighting to stay at her first owner's grave was touching and true to life with animals, especially dogs. I'm glad that Rumple lied to her new owner and made sure he'd lose all his dogs. The new owner's dialogue was so on target for the cruelty that happens in puppy mills...and of course, made it clear to Rumple that Saffy should remain with him and Belle.
I wonder if there might be a Saffy based sequel that's viable. At any rate, I love this fic! Well done!

Just love Saffy, even though I'm a cat Person, :} That so called nobleman didn't deserve her. Loved what Rumple did to him :} She now has a good home like Rumple interacting animals almost as much as I with kids

Yay, Saffy can stay! :) And her herding him was funny.

I've taken in a few abandoned, abused and disabled pets over the years so part of this story reminds me of that and nursing my cat back to health when a neighbor poisoned it. Also now I understand why it was so hard for Rumple to warm up to Nala right away but he learned to love her just like Saffy and Saffy was instrumental in bringing Rumple and Belle closer.
