I would recommend you read some of the work bt Dr. Snakes MD. especially Hurricane Suite and Patriot's Dawn. the combat writing as well as the character interaction would benefit you greatly as an exapmle to aspire to. of perticular note is the lack of yelling jutsu. why is yelling your moves a necessary thing? i get it in children's shows because kiddies need that extra bit of help to understand what's happening. but when you write your story and a character yells what he's doing he/she is giving their opponent both warning of an action being taken, what that action is, and therefore an extra moment (or several depending on how long the name is) of opportunity to avoid, counter, nullify, or exploit the action even before the action has happened. it's a trope of japanese manga-to-tv that is patently stupid that always bugs me. in a comic it makes sense for the reader. in animation the viewer can see the action, and in written format like this you can write the effect. if the character thinks the move to aid in concentration, i can live with that. but shouting it for the enemy to hear? no. imagine watching any of the Marvel or Dc comics movies. do any of those heros shout their move? does superman yell 'laser eyes!' then shoot laser eyes? does batman sneak up on a perp, yell 'batarang!' then throw a batarang? does captain america yell 'shield!' then throw his shield? no. they just do the action. we understand what's going on, and the character doesn't come off as a moron.
