amelia-cordelia chapter 39 . 9/26/2017 I was so happy to see more of this AU! I especially enjoyed the ending, with Charles being grumpy, Elsie scolding him, and the “curmudgeon” reference. Perfect! |
Manygreentrees chapter 39 . 9/25/2017 It's great to see a continuation of this Carson family fic. Now, they are very much tested by the trials of War. We can easily recognise their characters: Elsie, practical, in charge, close friends with Mrs Patmore; Charles, rather imperious, very capable , always in charge, and used to it. But, we hear that things have changed. He's no longer in charge of anything. In fact he's severely injured, and will not be able to return to his chosen, life-long profession. Emotionally, he's falling apart, becoming a demanding, difficult patient , and calling for she who means the most to him. Elsie's arrival seems to provide balm to his troubled soul. Very in character. Loveable as always. Terrific. |
Guest chapter 38 . 9/25/2017 Beautiful ️ |

meetmeinstlouie chapter 39 . 9/25/2017 I love this AU...so happy he's going to be all right! Loved him shouting for "Nurse Hughes". Poor Elsie, so worried and trying to hold it together. Thanks for reviving this one! |
chelsie fan chapter 39 . 9/25/2017 I really do love this AU, and I especially like what you’ve done here with Charles’s hand and what it means for his career; it parallels the canon story very nicely. I’m glad that he WILL recover and he WILL have use of his hand, though, even if he can’t perform surgery. His operating days might be over, but that doesn’t mean his entire career is. Just like in canon, he can still help supervise and teach Mr. (Dr.) Barrow. He can instruct and consult and pass on his wisdom, even if he can’t wield a scalpel. I also love Elsie’s practicality and strength here, laced through with vulnerability. Very nice balance. Well done. Thank you for sharing this with us. |
misszenobell chapter 39 . 9/24/2017 Beautiful writing and I really love the setting for this AU. Thank you and I can’t wait for more! |
