Ciara in cotton socks chapter 1 . 2/20/2015 Oh, you've done it again. Having just read 'My Heart Can't Tell You No', this made an interesting contrast while sticking with the overarching theme. I enjoyed the fact that this one was set while the boys were still together, as it provided a chance to see more natural, unrestrained reaction on Dean's part. The inclusion of Roman was a nice addition too, and I loved the hilarious flashback to the conversation about Dean's wardrobe choices. Choosing to write most of the story from Seth's point of view was clever. You did a great job of conveying the agony he was enduring, but also managed to show little glimpses of his love for his brothers and the comfort they provide for him. Favourite parts? There are many, including but not limited to: 'Dean was immovable, "But I love these jeans! I've logged a lot of miles in these jeans. I had my first referee gig in these jeans!" Everyone looked at him, "You've actually refereed a match?" Randy asked, in surprise. "I didn't say they asked me to do it again," Dean admitted.' This exchange was hilarious to me, I'd actually love to read about Dean's ill-fated refereeing debut! 'Roman didn't do well when one of his brothers was in pain and he couldn't fix it or beat up the person causing it.' That's just so very Roman, isn't it? The idea that holding Seth helps him as much as it helps Seth is so sweet... 'Dean would fuss over him like the mother hen he secretly is, and Roman would baby him and insist he take it easy. Seth knew that if the roles were switched, it would be the same way. That's what brothers did for each other.' The crux of their relationship, summed up in three simple but effective sentence. It's also nice to see Dean recognised as primary caregiver, as that role seems to be given to Seth in most stories, then Roman. The notion that Dean can put his own crazy aside when Seth needs him is weirdly comforting to me. Kudos on another great piece! |
