Their love for each other is just so fierce yet quiet, an enduring strength that you perfectly portrayed. I loved that your described how everyone else felt about both the interactiin and the scar itself, they were so different and had such depth to it. I think Aang and Toph's made me the saddest, because he innocently doesn't see the gravity of it and she too needs someone who understands her that much. Oh, and Ursa; the distance between child and mother was both physical and emotional, which was painful to read. I love your headcanon of protective papabear Hakoda, that was really sweet!

No, Aang wouldn't get why the scar is such a big deal, because he really doesn't understand the depth and strength of family ties. How could he, given the way he was raised? When not just you but everyone around you neither knows nor cares who their parents were...

And I agree, there should be more fics featuring Hakoda and Zuko. Not more slash fics, heavens no, but bonding fics where Hakoda, like Iroh, sees and tries in his own way to help undo some of the damage that monster Ozai did to such a wonderful young man.

I wish you never stop writing zutara. :) Sometimes I read other people's fics to try something new, but I always, always, always come back to yours because of posts like these (andmaybealsothesmut). Haha. But seriously, your canon just makes so much sense to me. It's flawless.

You are spot on! Everything you just explained I've been feeling that way since the show began! The way Katara could only touch his scarred half, and the first time she did in the Crystal Caverns kinda sparked a lifetime of small gentle touches and caresses. She really is showing him love on the side he can't stand the most. They grow to love each other for everything, I also suspect Katara can touch Zuko is because he also has a scar that he protected her against and she will do all she can to heal those wounds emotionally.

I also see the Hakoda and Zuko relationship be more prominent after the series since Zuko needs all the help he can get. Hakoda may try to protect him from the other nations and form a treaty with the Fire Nation as soon as possible. They may go on business expentures and collaborate ideas and stay for dinner in one another's nations. Which may even help the bond with Zuko and Katara as they will see each other often and Hakoda accepts him as part of the family already.

This was just beautiful in the way you wrote it. I pictured it all, was also very in character even though there was not much dialogue. Just their actions proved they were still there. Bravo!
