How is Freya the only person to get seriously injured? No offence, but I don't think she's a realistic or interesting character at all. For a witch and 131 years old, she really isn't all that smart, skilled or powerful. She doesn't even remember to carry a weapon with her when she goes out for a walk all alone. She's ashamed of herself, insecure and lacks true depth. She has potential, but it really needs work. Having her be the only one injured with the trolls just sets her apart as a woman and makes her seem a lot weaker than the others even though she should be much stronger since she's been training to fight and with magic for over a century. She's not impressive at all and it's just so frustrating. And Thorin is very out of character if he's practically kissing her so soon after meeting her. It's also so annoying how you keep describing this betting pool the others are having about them and making it so obvious, yet Thorin and Freya are oblivious. Finding out after the fact would have been cool, but it's too in your face and there's really no build up of trust and feelings between them at all. Thorin would push his attraction aside, his focus on the quest would take precedence and he'd refuse to allow a woman to distract him. It would be very gradual, and would need respect that comes from actions, not words.
