I just want to shake Sookie and tell her to stop saying "sorry" and stop letting assholes intimidate you!. As well as tell her that she is naively confusing being an abused doormat with being a "good Christian".

In this Charlaine Harris world of make believe, I blame Gran.

The narcissistic old bat knew that Sookie was a sheep among literal wolves but only cared about her image and covering up her adultery.

Guilty Gran not only selfishly kept sookie in the dark about her heritage she also failed to prepare her for the Dark Underbelly Supe environment that Sookie was destined to be a part of.

Gran hypocritically turned sookie into a prideful ignorant enabler with a savior complex. Whereby Making Sookie The perfect victim for beings that were too twisted for her simpleton world view.

All of Grans "good" advice lead Sookie to be victimized.

Well Maude, all heartlessly good points except that starting from day one, Sookie was a victim of systematic psychological and blood tie manipulation which lead to all of those bad choices she made.

A great story. Love thoughtful, emotionally mature Sookie although it sucks she had to go through such trauma, I'm glad to her growth as a character when she's usually left as a the stubborn arsed damsel in distress.
