Very interesting story. I had to read it a few types to let it sink in. I'm kind of confused with the whole Danny still interested in Valerie part? But it's a Grey Ghost story so I can figure you're heading in the direction of doom relationship with small spurts of romance thrown in. I never really understood why DxV fans were so biased against Sam? I mean sure she didn't like Valerie but she had good reason. She was mean and still mean to Sam. Plus, she hunts someone she cared about. I always thought Sam was a bigger person than Valerie, when she acquiesce and let's DxV in this story and in canon do their thing, that's huge! So I don't understand the hatred of DxV fans about that with Sam. I can't say I can stand the Trio in this story. Danny and Tucker seem like jerks instead of friends to Sam. And Sam seems too whiny. So, it makes me wonder if you're biased since DxV is you're "eternal weakness"? *Shrugs shoulders* Hey it's DxV story, it's written really well and it's believable in the sense if Danny still had a thing for Valerie. Which in case he does in this au story. Kudos to you.

So you're fluent in drama as well. Good to know! I'm starting to think I may just have to follow you as an author with how many good plots you come up with. I'm not normally a huge fan of stories with this pairing, but...well, you manage to write it so well! They're both very in character. The second thing is that I normally dislike first person stories - the ones I find are usually clunky and difficult to read. You have definitely surpassed that and done such a great job with this! Another to keep an eye for!

Finally a fic that brings back all my grey ghost feels. What with Danny stills wants to be around Valerie even after they broke up and making all these mistakes just to still be around her. I also like how you make Danny acknowledge that he's the reason Valerie is this way which the show didnt touch up on to much. I hop your still working on this story! Its such a gem honestly.

Wow! What incredible characterization here! You breathe life into Valerie and Danny in a way that makes me squee and jell at the same time. If I get half this good at being able to write people I’ll be over the moon. You write Danny in such a way that we can see all the mistakes he is making. I can almost hear the argument Valerie is going to make if/when she finds out that Danny is Phantom, “You used me!” And yet these mistakes cleave completely true to his character. He can’t not make them because of who he is. Not making them would unfortunately be totally against his character. Every justification to Valerie, to his friends, to Jazz and to himself rings of humanity. You breathe life into Danny. You make him a person.

You also stack up tension with each little mistake. I can practically see him walking the path to his own destruction. Yet I don’t yell out to him ‘you stupid idiot, don’t do that,’ because I can see so agonizingly why he does what he does. You really have a way of making a reader empathize with Danny rather than yelling at him for being an idiot. And he does it all for love, the poor sap.
He’s so painfully in love.

But it’s not just the mistakes! You also put a little bit of hope. Showing Cujo’s weakness to Valerie and showing her that not all ghosts are bad gives a spot of hope. If she can bring herself to forgive Cujo…couldn’t she bring herself to forgive Danny? Things could work out. Maybe? Eventually? After they both get over their issues.

You also do an excellent job of tying his goal to get Valerie to accept Phantom into his larger issues: his parents accepting him, the town accepting him. Which only makes me feel all the more for him. He’s also struggling with doing right by the ghosts, torn between his love for Valerie and his protectiveness of ghosts and guilt of leaving them with Valerie—to keep them from being destroyed.

I also love that Danny is finally learning martial arts, which is something I always want him to learn but it’s interesting how he has to fight the instinct to go intangible instead of block. I wonder if one time blocking instead of going intangible is going to screw him up.

Whether the pair manages to reconcile their mistakes and secrets and triumph…or whether Danny is doomed for the tragic hero path this is an incredible story that stabs at the heart of Gray Ghost. I too am a sucker for Gray Ghost and this tension is one of the big reasons for it. Whatever way you go with this, I’m certain it will be incredible! Please continue, with your characters and your plot this is an awesome gem of a story!

I like how you are building this story step by step, showing that even though Danny knows that continuing relations with Valerie is going to end badly he can't walk away from it. Romance is not usually my thing but you make a very good case for it.

Danny does bring up an interesting point here. It's very easy to be brave if you powers back you up. He contrasts that makes Valerie even more bad ass. She didn't have a healing factor. She doesn't have a safety net the flying of going intangible if something does go seriously wrong. The mission she could be killed or seriously
hurt

Again with Danny and Valerie here. It's almost the old Batman vs. Superman argument
Danny is the Superman equivalent with the powers that take them away. What is the.
Valerie on the other hand, is Batman with gadgets. The training and the skills to pay the bills. The downside of her is she's always know when to ask for help

Any as for Danny's prediction of Valerie figurine his secret out. She's always been sort of a few clues away in common from figuring it out. The only does he know she might torture in experiment on. It's Phantom initially

The big problem when you write. Valerie Specify where you want her on. If you will
when she first got her armor. Or after she dated Danny and the ghost King adventures
for near and after she ran into Danielle and learned that Vlad secret. The later Valerie is a hard sell hardened enemy. She's practically one step away from joining Danny side

So she has no indication that torture him or the facilities to do so. The worst case scenario. She just ties execute him

Jazz's right to have a fear of Valerie. But Danny does bring up one hell of a point that her and Sam always forget. Was posted on friendly terms with Valerie the always give the cold shouldered her, especially comes talking about ghosts

How is Valerie's views of ghosts or her status as a potential ally or hardened enemy and response to change. If you don't talk to her. Think of how much Valerie's reaction reading her becoming the Huntress to begin with with changes Sam on jazz
just talk to her to begin with. a 10 min. girl talk session/therapy with jazz
could've prevented the whole damn rivalry between her and Phantom.

Point is, in common, it is very easy for jazz and Sam to distrust Valerie just by showing up. I think they almost have a gripe against her something

Or is she Danny? It's canon that Valerie has no problem experimenting and torturing ghosts. Danny may be deluding himself here.

The rest of this chapter was fantastic, as always. I especially liked the tidbit where Amity Park seems to better tolerate the Fentons and their inventions. They're the laughingstocks in canon, but they really shouldn't be once ghosts become an actual problem. It's nice to see fanfiction that actually takes them seriously (or mostly seriously; Jack and Maddie are still goofs).

As for Valerie...I loved her in this chapter. She was just so badass and scary in this chapter. One of the best things I love about Valerie's character is how she thinks she's the hero who has to juggle school and work and hunting ghosts, when in reality she's the antihero. She's also extremely stubborn about it, and while that can be annoying, it shows that she isn't going to give up her beliefs that easily. It proves that she isn't someone you can bribe.

But I have to wonder...what will Danny do now? He may not have gotten to Valerie as much as he'd hoped; there's a reason why his friends and sister are worried about him getting so close to her.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is becoming an interesting story. The title promises that this is not likely to work out for the best but I like how you are taking Danny and Valerie's interaction step by step. It may be a slippery slope but it seems reasonable at the time.
